dwbasement Posted July 10, 2016 Author Posted July 10, 2016 Just ordered DeJohnettes and Jakob Bro - Gefion from ECM web, $75 free shipping, probably $20 cheaper than buying here... But this is the first time I ordered direct from ECM, will see how it goes... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk 3

Guest guru Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 The new tracks from the Factory Floor, going to be ordering this on vinyl. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwY0ZBJxqik Finally, Manfred got his true groove on, dropped those last 80's vintage lemon smilies and took ECM back to roots. No more scandi drones for him....

I know my cartridge is setup right if Jan's sax is narrow, sharp and forward, Jon's cymbals on the right channel are clear and placed where they should be, and Ralph blows my mind with cascading tonal onslaught across the entire audible range. I reckon my deaf cat pricks her ears up when all is playing as it should. 1

I was listening and thought a message had come in on my phone in the room behind me, it was Jon Christensen's percussion playing with my aural sensibilities. Stellar recording. 1
mrbuzzardstubble Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 (edited) A new release. Nice lineup. Tigran Hamasyan, Arve Henriksen, Eivind Aarset, Jan Bang Atmosphères This far-reaching double album, recorded and mixed in three days in Lugano, introduces a new group with Tigran Hamasyan, Arve Henriksen, Eivind Aarset and Jan Bang. The Norwegians had played in diverse configurations on ECM - Jan Bang on Eivind Aarset’s Dream Logic, for instance, and Bang and Aarset on Arve Henriksen’s Cartography - but with Hamasyan at the centre of the sound, bringing with him ancient folk melodies transfigured in the compositions of Komitas, other inspirations come into play. All four players are at a creative peak here, whether freely reflecting upon Armenian themes or spontaneously shaping atmospheric soundscapes together. Edited September 4, 2016 by mrbuzzardstubble 3
