How do they compare with the Magico M3?

Wait until you get 500 hours on the MB2's. They just get sweeter and sweeter

Geez, I envy you MB2 SE owners. Heard them just recently, mind boggling, had to settle with the 25.26.

“Settle”? They’re fantastic speakers!

Hi All,

I've a pair of PMC Twenty.22. I was listening this morning and mid-track I lost the high frequencies on one channel. It happened mid-song, with no other symptoms to suggest something was wrong prior. I suspected the amplifier or perhaps a bad connection in my cables but as best I can tell it appears to be the crossover (or something else, possibly a band connection inside the speaker somewhere). I can confirm that:

- when switching the speakers from left to right channel etc, the problem moves with the speaker

- another set of speakers works fine on the amplifier (which by the way is a Marantz Pearl Lite)

- removing the binding post bridge and connecting the speakers to the HF binding post only results in no output at all

- the tweeter when placed in the good speaker works fine

- neither tweeter works when placed in the bad speaker

I've had a look at the crossover and none of the spade connectors appear to be loose or anything, so I'm guessing the problem lies somewhere in the crossover. I've no idea how it could have failed, they've not been driven hard and at the time I was listening at a very low volume while drinking my morning coffee.

Has anyone else experienced this? Seems very strange for it to just drop the tweeter out of the blue like that. They've been working fine for 6+ months since I bought them second hand (unfortunately I don't have the receipts). I've emailed PMC warranty to see what the process will be to get them checked out.

Cheers

Chris

Probably a capacitor failure in the crossover.  If you have good multimeter you can test it yourself. Otherwise a local dealer or distributor could order in a replacement for you.

Did you end up getting those 25.26?

Hi Guys ,

Need advice regarding amp upgrade. I am currently running my PMC .24 with QUAD Elite pre and QSP power amp. They do sound good but I am feeling that the QUAD's are not bringing the best of them. So I am thinking of  getting an integrated and need suggestions please. I will most certainly go second hand . I am thinking Musical Fidelity M6SI but open to suggestions.

Thanks

m6si should do nicely. if cant find one... then older m6 or A5 integrated are all going to be in the thereabouts. another great combo if dont mind two box combo is the a5cr pre power... this is sensational. ran that pair myself some 10 years.... and both work an absolute treat with pmc...

I very much doubt that you would find anything better than this. I would love to buy this myself but I really shouldn't, so if you do it is a win-win

:)

Fully understand mate. It is out of my budget as well, but I have always wanted a McIntosh amplifier. and I may end up doing something crazy.

They just have an X factor .

If you let me know your budget I will try to make some suggestions.:)

Well I am hoping to get atleast  $ 1500 for my QUAD gear and will add another 1500 to it So roughly around 3k. That should be able to get me something nice second hand....Thanks for your help Mate. I  agree that the McINTOSH is  droolworthy.....Those VU meters to die for....

I actually would like to know what amp does not have synergy with PMC speakers? Seems like PMC are not fussy speakers and will mate well with any brand of SS amp as long as it’s got enough juice to drive them?

att23, its more how they match to your taste. there are subtleties with most speaker amp combinations that will suit some and not others. I ran and master series with pmc for a while and that worked well but I found musical fidelity a better match. marantz even ki series no so much. cyrus worked well but .... they are not a speaker thats a bit out there in sounds. more one of general appeal and will I agree tend to work with most speakers :) to point id also love to know how they would go with valves eg a nice 30-70w valve integrated... there sure are some beauties around ...

Yeah I'd put $1100 on them and give them some time. They are a nice speaker and the PMC club is exclusive [emoji6]
Hi Everyone,
Have been a huge fan of this site for awhile now. And because of what's been written here, I've pulled the trigger on a pair of PMC twenty.23 speakers. Just waiting to sell my main speakers, and I'll get them delivered. So l guess l am now a member of this exclusive club.
