Hi everyone,

I am going to upgrade my TT cartridge and I can't find anything, which will tell me which cartridges will fit to my tonearm. I have Rega RP1, which has RB101 tonearm. I stopped on Elys 2, but not sure if it fits.

If anybody knows, please could you suggest, mu budget up to $200.

Cheers,

Artemi

Any cartridge with a standard half inch mount will fit, what cartridge to you have at the moment?

It would help get more responses if you let us know what gear you have and your musical tastes, sorry I should have asked this in my other post.

I am not sure about gear, how could I check it?

I listen to funk, soul, jazz and blues and the next half is electronic music.

I would probably look more at an Ortofon 2M either Red or Blue. The stylii on those is user replaceable, unlike the Rega.

Elys2 should fit, other option would be denon DL 110 or 160 I used to have 110 on rp1, great sound.

Blue would be a better step up than red imo but you should try the 110 or 160 (160 is a bit harder to find but still available)...

I had a project 1.2 deck that came with a factory fitted project cartridge - P4 I think. It was supposedly a re-badged Garrott?? number. I was talked into a 2M Blue as an upgrade and was very impressed. It's a bit more than your budget ($270-ish new) but well worth it.

Yes, it's a bit higher than I would like to spend, but will try to consider. Unfortuantely none of them I have heard, so I can guess that Ortofon M Blue, Rega Elys and Denon 160 are pretty the same?

It's definitely ponderable argument. I'll consider it I think now more.

Dl110 and 160 are HOMC, blue and elys are MM, I reckon for the money 110 would be worth the $ and within your budget, and better sound imo

2M Blue vote here - as already mentioned you can easily replace or even interchange the styli on these bad boys, much more cost effective in the long run.

Eh? The Rega carbon appears to be an AT 3600L. There's probably a dozen different stylii for the 3600 family, including after market elliptical, hyper-elliptical and SAS, (which could be a good, easy upgrade).

I've got an AT-7V, it's great. Had an OM10, didn't like it. Others to consider are an AT120E/II or Nagaoka MP110. Maybe a Sumiko or Grado? There's heaps of options around if you import it.

Whenever these topics come up regarding the lower end Rega tables I always make the same suggestion which is to get whatever Nagaoka cartridge that fits your budget. I went through the Elys, 110, 160 route many years ago on my Planar 2 and the lowly Nagaoka MP11 knocked them all out by a significant margin.
