I have been lucky enough to have 2 pairs of very nice speakers, fairly efficient compared to most. Lately, I am wondering what could be my next upgrade if I continue on the single end and ultra high efficient horns.

Any suggestions?

I did some google search and found this, GOTO compression horn drivers made in Japan.

Ummmm, how big is your garage Jack?

Maybe you could knock a few holes in the wall and have the back of them in the next room :o.

I'm building some slightly (well, a lot really) smaller horns here today!

Hello JCR.

You must have some serious coin if your looking at GOTO drivers .

There is so much out there where do you start .Are you looking at bass horns as well .

I don't think its all about the brand of drivers its more about the implamention of drivers used .

A guy I know is using large K horns but has fitted passive radiators on the rear chamber and a couple of people that has heard it think its some of the best I mean tnally correct bass out .

Cheers.

Hi 56oval,

I did listen to the Avant Garde Bass horns with the Trio, it was nice but not quite my cup of tea.

I also heard another pair of European speakers with 2 x 18 in drivers bass horn and I was impressed with the low frequencies details and clarity.

GOTO has a good reputation and is very expensive. I have read lots of discussions and most would consider GOTO to be the ultimate in horn drivers. As I am still very green with HE drivers, it would be good if you guys could share some of your experience. :o

Hello JCR .

In your travels have you heard these using Supravox drivers ,I think Leon has or it could of been the Rubanoide and Rubanoide bass unit he heard.

Hi 56oval,

No, I have not seen or heard until recently on website. Interesting horn design. The closest that I have heard is by Rockport some years ago. Very similar horn with ribbon drivers, over 2m high.

I still want to have a more natural and clean low frequencies, Avant Garde Trio is very good down to 100Hz but what is below is still a bit of compromise.

I think thats where a well thought out dynamic bass driver in a box can still shine .Unless digital control on a tappered sub horn so you don't hear the bass 2 sec's after the kick drum is kicked .

I showed my wife a picture of my mates horn speakers and the reply I got you have them , in the garage :o its very tempting .

So hows the Kondo gear kicking along very ,very nice gear .

Have you heard any of Sukuma's gear .

Cheers

I have not heard of Sukuma's gear, any websites? Amps or speakers?

I was told that Rey Audio has some really nice horn too. My friend in Hong Kong has a pair and I heard them. Very nice but a bit on the darker sound. His room is treated acoustically and is designed by Rey Audio too. Overall, I found sound was a bit studio like, not natural enough.

I am having real fun with my Neiro, the 2A3's are just so natural and direct. the 300B Gakuoh on the other hand gives excellent space and extension. With my latest pre amp M1000 MKII, the room is now more energised.

I love to visit other HE horn users in Sydney, if you know someone, please help to introduce, if possible! :o

Yes, it is in German but Sukuma san looks like a master and his amps are awesome. Do you think they are as good as the look?

HI Jack,

As you know l am only starting down this road myself. l have read just about every site on horns that relates to TAD. Rey Audio is highly regarded, but apparently the Japanese taste is to drive the compressors xover point as low as possible since they value midrange clarity over bass punch, dunno if that explains what you heard.

GOTO is very highly regarded but l have read of a few users who ditched them and went back to JBL or TAD drivers as they found some idiosyncrasy's with their sound that long term they couldn't tame nor live with. All second hand info but so take it all with a dose of skepticism but food for thought all the same.

What about some Cessaro horns, they gain universal praise amongst the horn heads.

Cheers,

mondie

I would love to hear them ,there that far out of the box they would have to be good .Did you notice there for mono set ups and when he talks 2 channel its an amp that is built to drive different frequency's ,fullrange & tweet .

Cheers
