rob2 Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 (edited) Hi all, I need to have new binding posts put on to my speakers and maybe a little new internal wiring. The speakers are AMW 4100 Studio Monitors from the mid to late seventies - oldies I know, but such excellent speakers. I think (maybe) modelled on IMF designs of the time. They are a 4 way design and a fairly large box. They only take bare wire and I want banana plug fittings, and perhaps some new wire from the plug to the crossovers, and then to the drivers. Can anyone point me towards someone who does this sort of thing. I live in McKinnon (Benteigh) Melbourne so somewhere closer than Brisbane would be good. (I know Speaker Bits are in South Melbourne but they're booked up for months ahead.) Thanks guys, Rob Edited September 16, 2015 by rob2 1
mwhouston Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 jaycar, they are everywhere Not every one will agree with me but Jaycar will hVe all you need. Gold plated binding post pairs and Cat5 cable. That's all you need. They also have dempening sticky layers. Plus drivers and Xover bits.
rob2 Posted September 16, 2015 Author Posted September 16, 2015 Thanks fellas, but I meant who can do the actual work. DIY audio is not something I'm familiar with and I don't want to stuff it up. I'm not looking for anything for free - I'm expecting to pay.
henry218 Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Post more details on your speakers, perhaps with photos. Binding posts typically very easy to do.
Richard Tremain Posted October 23, 2020 Posted October 23, 2020 I know your post is old but i am something of an authority on those AMW spk, The Banana idea etc are not good ideas so how did you go?

Richard Tremain Posted October 25, 2020 Posted October 25, 2020 Hi, Quote is specific to AMW 4100. See my info under AMW 4100 in classifyd (just sold) All though i am coming to the opinion that Spades slightly beat Banana plugs in general usage.
