Greetings!...!!

Thorts!

We did a back to back comparison with the new BHK amp and the old Aurion 500 D class that Mike was using about 3 years ago. Well it was night and day.I was kind of hoping it was just all hype, then I could crawl back into my hole and forget all about it!!

A lot of the guys were commenting on the lack of balance in the Aurion amp, but listening to the BHK was like a live performance and the Aurion was more like listening to the radio with a blanket over it. If I was looking for an amp in this price range, then I would definitely audition this one!

Just a note, I have no PS Audio gear nor am I likely to get any soon, but I would think that this amp is a game changer!

i will leave the details to someone else!  Probably Billy H

Thanks Mike for the GTG. Great to meet some of the guys from here and listen to some quality gear.

The only amp the BHK was compared to was the Arion mono blocks, and as others have mentioned there was no competition. The Arions sounded boring in comparison, in this setup.

There was a big step up from Arions to BHK, but there were a few other interesting improvements. Mike's AMGs placed on the speakers made a big difference. Mike's new speaker cables sounded a lot more open, direct, and full than the RibbonTeks. Wayne inserted his USB Regen into the mix and it improved in all areas, I particularly noticed the improvement in bass.

I can't help think with all of the improvements we experienced even more tweaks were possible! Possibly linear power supply for USB Regen and I was a bit concerned about the wi-fi router placed near the speaker cables! From memory the Mac wasn't plugged into the power conditioner, but not sure whether that would provide an improvement.

The a/b comparisons today were very obvious, in the end when Mike "gave it the herbs" ,the bass prowess of the BHK made the little 6.5 inch drivers of the wonderful ML2 limiteds produce active subwoofer style bass,

Well defiant of any bloom and with only about a half inch of travel they were going it very easily!

So when is a set coming down to Melbourne so we can have a listen ?

Why not use this as an excuse to leave the Bleak City, have a little holiday at the Gold Coast, perhaps even build a sand castle and listen to some seriously good hifi?

You know you want to! :)  ;)  :D

Yep the Arions had the same work done,

I thought they were still nice, but the switch back was instantly amazing and by then the late comers were in and virtually all turned or twitched in wow factor

Hi Guys

These BHK's are amazing.

I call its sound sweet liquid life.  The Arions were DULL by comparison - like a blanket over the speakers.

Words simply fail me - I am not used to such a trouncing of high end ear.

I initially thought - oh well the Arions are cheaper so what do you expect.  Except I realized with the falling Australian dollar the Arions are $6295 US and about an extra $1K for the Duelund Cast - or $7295 US:

http://www.arionaudio.com/products.html

At the current exchange rate of $1.36 that gives an Australian price of $9921, add GST of 10% and shipping and you are at about the $11395 of the BHK so it'not really cheaper at all:

http://magentaaudio.com.au/product/ps-audio-signature-bhk250-amplifier/

The BHK rep was also there today and told of some comparisons with much more expensive amps like the Sim Audio - the BHK easily won.

Believe the hype - this is the real deal.

Go out an hear it.  Start saving your pennies - you will want one.

Thanks

Bill

For anyone in SA who may be interested, I heard this same combination at Magenta a few weeks ago, and can thoroughly recommend a listening session. In fact, for someone wanting a genuine hi end set up, you'd be negligent not to arrange an audition.

It's hard to isolate the criticality of each of the three main components in the system, especially if you haven't heard any of them before. But I was extremely impressed by the ML2's. Just a near on perfect speaker. Detailed, smooth, dynamic, rich, fantastic imaging and space, all in perfect balance and harmony. I took my own music along, and there was not one track that wasn't played better than I'd ever heard it before. Well done Mike L. A truly world class product IMO.

Having said that, I'm equally sure there are other source components and combinations that will also do a great job and quite possibly other amps according to the listener's room dynamics and listening preferences. But that combination certainly leaves an impression.

I'd also like to thank Mike K for his hospitality and professionalism in giving me 90 minutes of his time. Thoroughly appreciated, most enjoyable and really raised the bar.

Thanks jolon. Yes the tweaks make an apparently large improvement when all the base line components were doing the correct thing.

The AMG's seemed to make a larger than usual improvement on the ML2Ltd's . Likewise our new (as yet unnamed )speaker cables were night and day better than our old RibbonTek cables ! Just bear in mind that the RibbonTeks were reviewed by Stereotimes magazine as Giant Killers and were included in 2014 products of the year. Check out link http://www.stereotimes.com/post/eti-ribbontek-speaker-cables

Honestly running ML2Ltd's driven by the BHK made the difference between the two cables simply huge . Wayne's Regen also knocked me over ! I ordered one last night , I do think that they may make less of a difference as the server improves in quality. (Anyone done any testing in this area ? ). Regards Mike Lenehan
