Hergest Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Bloody miserable here in Sydney today so I got up early, checked the radar, bunged the bike in the back of the car and drove over the mountains to Tarana from where I rode to Mount Panorama and back, great stuff, you wouldn't think it was on the same planet as Sydney, never mind just a couple of hours drive away. https://www.strava.com/activities/296375316 3

Hergest Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 What a great idea Hergs! You should have told me... Ha! The Hunter taking a drenching too?
Jake Posted May 2, 2015 Author Posted May 2, 2015 Ha! The Hunter taking a drenching too? Bloody pissing down. Did an hour on the ergo this morning, as much as I am allowed by the little girl before I get dragged upstairs to play games.
frankn Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Had to postpone my MTB trip to NZ due to prostate resection surgery. SO , March 5th - 19th 2016 I'll be in Nth Island touring the MTB parks and trails. Come along if you are interested. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
mello yello Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 some guy is going for some sort of hour long record atm on Eurosport UCI, means the equipment is limited to the equivalent that was used when the record trial began in 1972 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hour_record
proftournesol Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Its Alex dowsett and he's just taken the record from Australia's Rohan Dennis.
mello yello Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 i know, i didnt want to make out like i knew what it was all about, just stumbled across it and wanted to pass it on
proftournesol Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Next time you're struggling with a flat tyre just remember this video. Incidentally this guy also had a cameo as Micchione's pet walker in The walking Dead https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWCDEAYn8rQ 1

Sub Sonic Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 It's certainly impressive. I also read in a cycling magazine recently of a cycling mechanic who can consistently do a rear tyre change in 59 seconds. Wish I was that practised!
Hergest Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 This is a great campaign to encourage women in the UK to cycle. 5
Jake Posted May 14, 2015 Author Posted May 14, 2015 Did a recce for the upcoming Port to Port mtb race today. We are racing this in 2 weeks, Stage 2 of 4 over 4 days. It was a tough day in the saddle on its own. The last hour was in darkness and 11 deg on the runback to Lindemans winery. At least I picked up a nice bottle of red. https://www.strava.com/activities/304278729 1
proftournesol Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 A great examination of cycling and neuroplasticity - work and pleasure combined for me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFzDaBzBlL0

Would this be the hardest stage or are they all like it? You earned the bottle of vino anyway.
Jake Posted May 15, 2015 Author Posted May 15, 2015 Thanks Hergs! Last year it was by far the toughest. This year from what we rode yesterday it is much easier. Stage 3 will be the killer this time. My LBS are preriding it this Sunday and will give me a headsup, but I can't make it due to my girl's birthday party.
Hergest Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 , but I can't make it due to my girl's birthday party. Rule #11 mate. http://www.velominati.com/the-rules/

blybo Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 What colour socks do you wear on the road? The answer will reveal a lot.

Hergest Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 I didn't know there was a Stereonet club on Strava, you have a new member 1

Nothing that can't be fixed already with ultra cheap cleat shims or with orthotic type insoles like the Specialised ones. I use a cleat shim under my left cleat to raise the inside of my foot by about 1mm. I'd prefer to stay with Speedplay pedals and use a shim.
blybo Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Black...or orange. You've gone to the dark side. The only Roadie that wore black socks is currently sitting in his living room in Texas looking at his 7 counterfeit yellow Jerseys. Mind you, he's really a tri-athlete anyway.
