Jeez, I'm crying reading stuff like this. :thumb: Where can I get all these free decks? ;)

A Nakamichi CR7 in Melbourne just sold for $2000 on Ebay, and there's a Nak Dragon in Adelaide that's already up to $405.

This could be wishful thinking, but there seems to be a slowly-growing market for good decks on Aus Ebay; not for big bucks, but over a hundred for half-decent stuff.

When the decision was made I felt my heart cried, it was a stressful feeling at the time and I still feel it thinking about it today. Somethings you just have to let go. To think she was going to throw my record collection out as well!!!!:)

Yeah, those were the days. :thumb:

That's it, I'm gunna get my tck590 fixed.

I recently got a tck611 for 70 bucks, but it stopped working the day after I got it, and the seller refunded my dough. Bummer, coz I was looking forward to using, but scored a tck511S last week.

Yep, I'd get the Sony TC-K590 fixed. IMHO it's a great deck. Calibrated optimisation for the tape you are recording on is a very worthwhile feature. Dolby S would have been great but IMO the Dolby C HX Pro seems to do quite a good job on this deck if you use good quality tapes. I've got a soft copy of the service manual for the TC-K590 if you need one.

Cheers,

Alan R.

Will do. Have some recording jobs that need to be done and will be keen to see how this machine performs.

Gamve,

Please clear your inbox - I need to contact you

Great information. But now it is digital world and the everybody is using digital technology. Old video tapes and camcorder tapes and players have been replaced with DVD, Blue ray like techniques. They have also supported signed artists such as The Cassette Kids and Calling All Cars.

Love your edit Emily.

I have one of these Tascam decks that I need to get bands and a roller for, the parts are available, and I have about 100 cassettes, all popular artists.

Looks pretty cool with the three meters :)

Grouse! I'm a bit jealous. :-) There's a really sexy 122MkIII with 'remote' (corderd, I think) on Ebay at the moment, but he's asking $450 for the opening bid

Nice. There was (or is) a very similar one on Ebay last week. The seller was asking $200 for the opening bid. I dunno what happened

It's my number-one 'thing', and she wanted me to just quit racing and riding my 16,000km+ a year, and was happy to have me quit exercising altogther!! Aaagh! That was the beginning of a quick end

Yep, I think you're right. I recently got a much newer (early '90s) TC-K511S, and even though it has Dolby S and is much younger, it's a cheaper-feeling deck to use, compared to what I remember about the 590. The 511 is louder, clunkier, slower to 'react', and has less features.

Any love for a Technics RS-673...... If weight was a measure of goodness then this one must be good!!!

Also have a Nakamichi 480 in the workroom.

I just pulled out my Tape deck from storage. I brought it brand new. I have the remote.

Now I might considering selling it, as I'm cleaning out my rooms. Would anyone know what it might be worth?

I think I paid $1000 for it new many moons ago. Its is made in Japan. Just took a pic.

Can take 6 Cassette tapes on the left. Lots of continuous play!

That seems a bit rich for a 122, but I'm not familiar with the model.

top dollar I suppose but if its a good one, not too bad. That series of Teac/Tascam are serious pro decks, very expensive new. Here is one of the originals: http://www.thevintageknob.org/teac-C-1.html

there were also C2 and C3 and a few variations.

Sound good, built like tanks, easy to service. I like them a lot.

I bought this same Tascam 122mkIII yesterday on its third Ebay listing for $220. I hope it works. ;) Here's a big photo of one. They are sexy. The plan is that it'll make me feel young. Ha! :D I've never had a deck as 'corehard' as this before.

I saw that one up for sale and would have bid if it wasn't pick up only. I've got a 122 Mk II and would like to add a Mk III to the collection. The Tascams are great but make sure you do the calibration properly for the tape you use as it makes a noticeable difference.

Thanks. The auction was on Saturday, but the seller is yet to reply to me. Maybe he's on holidays.
