PKay Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 @@Nap250 Just rapped my knuckles on the wider side of the upright again, midway up...ouch! hurts to do so and just a dull thud sounds good to me.
Guest Muon Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 sounds good to me. Cool! because I'm over knocking on these suckers
Guest Sime Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 This is one of the nicer pairings of speaker and stand.
Ancientflatulence Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 What the hell ......... I reckon they're pretty good ............. a not very good picture of one of my 45 (plus filling) KG beauties ................
PKay Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 What the hell ......... I reckon they're pretty good ............. a not very good picture of one of my 45 (plus filling) KG beauties ................ How do you find the toppers?
Ancientflatulence Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 When I was at Mike's listening to, I think it was the ML2s, he played a track and then added the toppers. I called him a rude word because I thought I had spent too much that day already, but I wasn't leaving without them as well ......... They just seemed to tighten the bass up .............
Ancientflatulence Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 No it is water based paint brushed on to see if I liked the colour and I was going to get them powdercoated if I did. I like the softness of the paint colour and the brush strokes now so I won't bother with the powdercoating .....

Guest Misterioso Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 This is one of the nicer pairings of speaker and stand. Stands look too flimsy for my taste.
Guest Misterioso Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 I wish the stands from Liedtke-Metalldesign were readily available here. These are amazing.
Michael Parin Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 As with the blue stands, I went with mass to great effect (aural, if not visual) Guessing north of 30kgs with sand filling - About $300 for steel and getting base plate cut out and got a friend to weld them together Really tightened up focus and instrument separation became pinpoint - like finding the sweetspot when tuning in a radio station 1
beerbudget Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Im loving these at the moment........and even more so with the added plinth.
blybo Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 (edited) I'd love to get a custom stand for my HT room centre Channel. Purely for aesthetics mind you, I built a cubloc stand and then mass loaded the frame with dried sand which has made it quite inert, spiked the base corners and covered the mdf shelf with matt velvet to rid the room of unwanted reflections. Unfortunately you cant do angled tops with cubeloc so the front of my centre is held up by rubber door stops. Edited March 23, 2016 by blybo

audiofeline Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Dayton Audio stands (and other speaker assessories and gear) from the Loudspeaker Kit in Templestowe, Melbourne: http://www.theloudspeakerkit.com/loudspeaker-components/speaker-stands/ I've got no idea if they are any good or not; the outlet has reasonably priced speaker spikes.

They look very similar to the Selby Accoustics stands. http://www.selby.com.au/brackets-and-wall-mounts/speaker-stands/600mm-speaker-stand-black-ss241600.html 1
maxspl Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Had to make these up myself for my ATC's . 16mm steel bottom plate 12mm top plate 150mm x 75mm box section, fully welded with holes drilled and tapped for spikes underneath. Sandblast undercoat and two top coats. Filled with crushed garnet and weigh around 45kg each. Lot of time and work involved to do a one off pair though. .. 2

FYI they are identical to the RVM SP121 stands which can be sourced for nearly $100 cheaper: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Speaker-Stands-RVM-SP-121-24-Black-Heavy-4-Post-Design-List-Price-349-/161866733133?hash=item25b002564d These do have quite a large top plate though, and won't necessarily suit narrow/small standmounts unless you mind the speaker being much smaller than the stand! Hi Pete, may I know how much does it weight? Thanks.

Sorry, I have no idea what they weigh as a standard, non-filled stand. Now that they are filled, they certainly weigh a fair bit, but unfortunately it is too difficult for me to weigh them as I’d need to partly disassemble my system.
