ACTIVO Volcano IEMs Promise a Lava-ly Sound
ACTIVO's Volcano earphones follow the brand's mantra of providing high-performance and refined sound at an accessible price.
Following on from its joint venture with Dita Audio to create its Q1 IEMs, ACTIVO, Astell&Kern's more affordable sub-brand, has announced its own Volcano IEMs.
We're told that the Volcano earphones are crafted from lightweight yet durable polycarbonate, ready for life on the road. Moreover, thanks to several connectors, they are compatible with a wide range of devices, including ACTIVO's great-value P1 DAP (below).
Featuring triple dynamic drivers (an 8mm unit and two 6mm dynamic drivers) alongside custom-engineered tuning, the brand states that the ACTIVO Volcano has been "carefully crafted to deliver deep, thrilling sound that enhances every music experience." This apparently translates into "deep bass, rich mids, and crisp highs for an immersive listening experience" across its claimed 20Hz-20kHz frequency response.
ACTIVO considers the IEM's internal port system, optimised to ensure a natural, balanced sound across all frequency ranges, the heart of the Volcano's performance. Word is that the port's unique tapered structure allows the sound from each frequency to flow seamlessly, providing a smooth and immersive listening experience.
The Volcano's impedance is listed as 16 ohms and sensitivity, 100dB/mW.
Meanwhile, an ergonomically designed, crater-inspired housing contains "the raw power of the triple dynamic drivers" while ensuring a stable and comfortable fit.
ACTIVO has equipped Volcano with a high-quality cable featuring a hybrid design of 7-core silver-plated copper wire and 5-core oxygen-free copper wire. We are told this ensures exceptional clarity and a comfortable listening experience. The IEMs are bundled with multiple connector options, with 3.5mm, 4.4mm, and USB-C terminations, making them perfect for various devices.
With enhanced ear wingtips alongside small, medium, and large silicone and memory foam ear tips, the Volcano should prove comfortable during extended listening sessions.
