Acura’s First EV Sports Bang & Olufsen Audio

The ZDX crossover is Acura's first electric vehicle and will feature immersive, premium audio from Bang & Olufsen.

Slated to arrive in 2024, Acura's first all-electric vehicle series, the ZDX crossover featuring the range-topping high-performance ZDX Type S, will also be the first for the marque to feature in-car audio from the highly respected Danish brand Bang & Olufsen.

Designed by Harman specifically for Acura, we're told that the bespoke system is "tuned for a powerful, sophisticated and immersive listening experience". We can also expect this partnership with Bang & Olufsen to expand across the entire Acura lineup in the coming years.

Like Acura's commitment to "Precision Crafted Performance", Bang & Olufsen has been a beacon for immersive sound experiences for nearly a century, with a reputation built around creating products that push the boundaries of audio technology, design and craftsmanship. Designed and built expressly for Acura by Harman, the Bang & Olufsen Sound System in the Acura ZDX promises to harness "the latest technologies to deliver a supremely elevated audio experience for Acura drivers".

Emile Korkor, Assistant Vice President, Acura National Sales, told StereoNET:

As we take the Acura brand and our products to the next level, we wanted to make sure the audio experience also delivered on our concept of being a 'destination brand'. This new collaboration with Harman and the Bang & Olufsen brand will achieve exactly that, further exciting our clients as Acura enters the electrified era starting with ZDX.

Tom Rivers, VP of Global Marketing at Harman, added:

Acura and Harman are equally driven to deliver unparalleled performance and memorable experiences, and we're excited to kick off our new long-term partnership that will set a new precedent for in-vehicle audio and technology for years to come as we collaborate on future Acura products.

The all-new 2024 ZDX will also feature the first integration of Google built-in for Acura, providing a connected and personalised driving experience. An enhanced version of Google Maps for EV drivers will optimise route plans for recharging, find charging stations along the route and estimate charging times required to reach your destination. The all-electric ZDX will also feature other intuitive technologies, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
