Audio-Technica ATH-S220BT Headphones - Huge Stamina, Small Price
Audio-Technica's new ATH-S220BT Bluetooth headphones boast 60 hours of playtime and cost just £60.
Audio-Technica's ATH-S220BT wireless headphones promise exceptional audio reproduction with crystal-clear call clarity, along with an impressive 60-hour battery life. Additionally, a 10-minute top-up hands the headphones around 3.5 hours of charge.
Sporting low-profile earpads, specially designed to prevent sound from escaping while you're on the go, the 180g headset is powered by 40mm drivers that produce a quoted frequency response of 5Hz-32kHz.
We are told that the ATH-S220BT headphones' intelligent and lightweight design helps prevent neck and shoulder strain and provides comfort for extended wear, whether that's for travelling, gaming sessions, or streaming marathons. In addition, movies and gaming also should benefit from the ATH-S220BT's Low Latency Mode.
With Bluetooth 5.0 on board, you get multipoint pairing, enabling you to connect to multiple devices simultaneously with the added ease of Fast Pair Support for Android devices. Also, there is Siri and Google Assistant compatibility, so you can access your device's speech recognition function at the touch of a button. Plus, Audio-Technica's voice guidance function can be used to deliver notifications, including power and pairing statuses, as well as helping to monitor remaining battery levels. However, there's seems to be no AAC or LDAC support. For that, you might want to check out the brand's M50xBT2, instead.
The 1.2 m bundled cable with an in-line mic and control can be used whenever a wired connection is preferred or simply wish to experience superior sound whilst conserving battery power.
The Audio-Technica ATH-S220BT is available from 10th September 2021 for an RRP of £60/ €69.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
