Austrian Audio Announces Headsets for Business and Gaming

Austrian Audio keen to attract gamers and work from homers alike with PG16 Pro and PB17 headphones.

Austrian Audio announces two sets of headphones, the PG16 Pro Gaming Headset and the PB17 Professional Business Headset, looking to capitalise on whatever reason you might have to be sat in front of a screen.

The young Viennese company impressed us with its Hi-X65 headphones with which both the PG16 Pro and PB17 shares technology, including the 44mm Hi-X drivers. This results in the new headsets promising to accurately reproduce the full audible sonic frequency spectrum from 12 Hz to 24 kHz with zero latency.

Put to work with console or PC games, the PG16 will enable you to hear your favourite titles the designers intended. Meanwhile, those working from home will value the clear speech and fatigue-free listening of the PB17s closed-back design.

Furthermore, Austrian Audio's PB17 and PG16 are equipped with pro-grade boom microphones for clear voice transmission without cut-outs, choppiness, or muffling. Got something to say off-mic? The boom also has a 'Lift to Mute' mechanism.

The PG16 gaming headset comes with optional Spatial Sound Card software from New Audio Technology for a dynamic 7.1 surround sound and enhanced gaming experience.

Aside from that, and the gaming headset has a slightly flashier paint job, both share that they are closed-back designs, so great for keeping out the noise around you while also keeping what's going on in your cans to yourself. The memory foam earpads should also prove comfortable, whether through gaming marathons or marathon Teams calls.

The PB17 includes a 3.5mm (1/8") TRRS to USB-A adapter, while the PG16 includes a 3.5mm (1/8") TRRS to 2x 3.5mm (1/8") TRS adapter.

The Austrian Audio PG16 retails at £129/ €139, and the PB17 £119/ €129. Both are available now.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
