OPPO DIGITAL CEASES MANUFACTURING

OPPO Digital, manufacturers of arguably the most popular DVD and Blu-ray players, and more recently an outstanding range of Head-Fi products have announced it will cease manufacturing.

To be clear, this is not an April Fools prank. A statement on OPPO Digital UK's website reads:

While the latest OPPO 4K UHD players have reached the pinnacle of their performance, OPPO Digital has made a business decision that it is time to say goodbye to production of the OPPO Digital range of products. This decision will also apply to OPPO Digital’s line of head-fi products.

The release also states that existing warranties will be honoured and met.

Though OPPO Digital will gradually stop manufacturing new products, existing products will continue to be supported, warranties will still be valid and both in-warranty and out-of-warranty repair services will continue to be available.

OPPO Digital UK will close its doors this Summer. A new European hub is being set up to process future orders.

Nigel Rich, Managing Director of OPPO Digital UK concluded:

We can be very proud of our achievements over the past few years. Along with market leading products, we have provided first rate customer service and support from our offices here in Norwich. I am very proud of our staff and very sad that we will now be closing our doors for good. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our European distirbutors, retailers and, of course most importantly, the people that purchased OPPO products in Europe. We will continue to support products in and out of warranty and we have made provisions to continue this high level of service.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
