BRYSTON ADDS 16.2 CHANNEL PROCESSOR TO ITS RANGE

Canadian audio-video brand, Bryston has sucked in the crystal clear air around its Ontario headquarters, and the oxygen rush has delivered a new 16.2 channel AV processor.
Bryston devotees will come to know the model as the SP4, a simple nomenclature for a model that has greatness stamped all over it.
The SP4 was a collaborative effort with French company StormAudio an outfit specialising in high-end surround sound audio-video gear.
Bryston’s input is its amplifier expertise, a skill that it has by the bucket loads.
The pairing assures buyers that the SP4 will be leading edge inside and out. This is borne out by its design that allows its owners to add four additional channels with consummate ease.
As for supporting the whys and withal of surround sound formats, the SP4 seems to have all the bases covered.
It is said to support all the latest immersive surround formats including Dolby Atmos, Auro-3D, and DTS: X as well as existing legacy formats.
The SP4 gains Dirac Live room correction to give its users fingertip control over room acoustics. The new processor will be built on a 3U modular platform to make it future proof as Bryston engineers labour away developing advanced technologies that can be retrofitted as the upgrades arrive.
Installers and system integrators will like the SP4’s compatibility with popular control system platforms including Savant, RTI, and Crestron.
Bryston’s collaboration with StormAudio is ongoing and will see the latter leverage Bryston’s Cubed Series amplifier technology in soon-to-arrive 2-channel and 4-channel amplifiers.
Bryston has a history of teaming up with other audio specialist brands. Fruitful relationships have previously seen Bryston work with audio luminaries the calibre of Gold Note, Harman, PMC and Axiom Audio.
Pricing for the SP4 has not yet been released, but the new processor is expected to be on sale in the second quarter of 2018.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
