The Cambridge Audio Melomania Touch true wireless earbuds not only sports a new touch-controlled design but also boasts a new app and improved battery stamina.

Staying true to the Melomaia name (it means crazy about music) the British Hi-Fi firm has concentrated on getting the best sound out the Melomania Touch rather than faff around with active noise-cancelling tech. To that end, they have even brought in the company's own hi-fi amplification know-how. In fact, the High Performance Audio Mode is said to borrow directly from Cambridge Audio's CX amplifiers to deliver a more generous soundstage, with lower noise levels and a higher dynamic range.

At the end of the clever amplifier technology are custom 7mm Graphene-enhance drivers that are quoted to present a frequency response of 20Hz–20kHz.
The Melomania Touch utilises Bluetooth 5.0 and will play nice with the latest aptX, AAC, and SBC codecs for high-quality wireless audio with robust connectivity.
You might not get active noise cancelling, but there is Qualcomm's Clear Voice Capture (cVc) technology onboard. Using the two microphones, cVc ensures that your calls are free from background noise.

The 5.9g Melomania Touch buds are sweat, and water-resistant to IPX4 rating and feature all-new touch controls so you can play and pause music, skip tracks, change volume, and more by simply tapping the earphone. Also, you can switch on Transparency Mode to take in more of your surroundings as the snug-fitting buds promise admirable passive isolation.

The Touch is bundled with a premium microfibre leather-covered case complete with a fast-charging USB-C port for when the 50 hours of battery life are over. Used in Low Power Mode, the Melomania Touch earbuds boast 9 hours of battery life on a single charge. And you can recharge the earphones more than four times over using the charging case – resulting in a further 41 hours of play time.
High Performance Audio Mode still hands you up to 7 hours of battery life on the earphones with a further 33 hours via the charging case.

Finally, there's the new Melomania app which is compatible with iOS and Android devices. Here is where you can customise EQ settings, locate misplaced earbuds using your phone's map location, and check each earbud's battery life.
Cambridge Audio's Melomania Touch will be available from New Year's Day 2021, priced at £129.95.
