CANJAM PRIZE DRAW WINNERS AND WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO SEE

Did you enter StereoNET's free CANJAM Ticket Offer? Read on for the announcement of the winners, and a taste of what you can expect at this weekend’s CanJam London.

For the uninitiated, CanJam is the UK’s largest gathering of headphone and portable audio brands. It's also the best chance to see the very latest and greatest in Head-Fi offerings, all in one place to one time.

For instance, Meze will be bringing their Empyrean isodynamic hybrid array headphones. To produce these special headphones, Meze Audio collaborated with Rinaro Isodynamics - a progressive audio company with over 30 years of research and development experience in the field of planar magnetics and Isodynamics. It is they who created the MZ3 driver, exclusively for Empyrean.

Pavlo Shymanovych, CEO and founder of Rinaro told StereoNET:

With MZ3, an Isodynamic Hybrid Array Driver, we managed to establish a new standard in planar magnetic audio – the first dual shaped voice coil array. The only one of its kind, this unique piece of technology is one of the lightest and most advanced planar magnetic drivers on the market.

The MZ3 combines individual switchback and spiral-shaped voice coils, allowing sound to be targeted with accuracy around the natural shape of the ear.

This is said to provide increased exposure of direct sound wave frequencies over the 10kHz range and improves imaging and localization by decreasing the impact of shortwave time delays caused by diffused field reflections.

Higher efficiency through weight reduction has been key to enabling longer listening sessions without the pressure point fatigue inherently created by heavy headphones, putting user-comfort at the same level of priority as audio performance.

CanJam will be the first showing of them in the UK, and they can be found in their dedicated listening rooms. If you fancy buying a set for yourself, they have a “price level” of USD $3,000-$4,000.

Marking another UK show debut, Benchmark will have their HPA4 headphone amplifier/DAC on display. As the brand’s first foray into the dedicated headphone amplifier market, the amplifier has been designed in partnership with audio-visual pioneers THX.

It features their Achromatic Audio Amplifier technology to achieve output levels which Benchmark says has minimal or no distortion. We're definitely looking forward to hearing this.

Another stand on our ‘must see’ list is Novafidelity. They will be exhibiting their new range of multimedia streamers.

You can also expect to see Focal’s headphones including the Elear and Clear, all the way through to their range-topping Utopias.

Winners

So, who are the lucky StereoNET UK readers who will be enjoying the latest in portable hi-fi? They are the gentlemen known as Anthony and Ricky and they have already been contacted directly. Thanks to all those that jumped in for the chance for free tickets.

Enjoy the show and if you see us, say hi and we’d be happy to get you a drink or two.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
