Canor Releases PH 2.10 Tube-Powered Phono Preamplifier

Canor has announced its new all-tube phono preamplifier that allows for both MM and MC cartridges to be connected at the same time without interference.
Canor's PH 2.10 sports the Slovakian company's own CMT (Canor PCB Milling Technology) and uses the minimum number of amplification steps required to apply purely passive corrections, says the manufacturer.
We're told that part of the PH 2.10's sound performance is down to the carefully selected electronics, as well as 2 x 12AX7 and 2 x 12AT7 tubes, allowing for the complete lack of global feedback.
Keeping everything as quiet as possible, the transformer core is vacuum impregnated, and then the transformer is encapsulated in a special anti-vibration compound. Additionally, the transformer is then situated in a large welded cover that also creates effective electromagnetic shielding and contributes to the system's signal-to-hum performance.
The primary and secondary windings are separated by a copper foil shield with a 50% overlap. Canor says that this prevents the penetration of interfering voltages from the network.
The first and second amplification stages are made up of 12AX7. This is also where you'll find a subsonic filter.
The third and fourth stages are made up of the 12AT7s. The RIAA correction is passive and consists only of quality polystyrene and polypropylene capacitors. The output capacitor is also a high-quality polypropylene foil type.
The PH 2.10 boasts flexibility and looks to accommodate a wide range of MC and MM cartridges thanks to its variable gain adjustment and selection of resistances and capacitances for all types of transmissions. Input impedance for moving coil carts ranges 10, 20, 40, 80, 150, 300, 600 and 1200 ohms with moving magnets enjoying a selection ranging through 50, 150, 270, 370, 520, 620, 740, 840 pF. All these settings can be made conveniently using the front panel controls, along with the selection of MC or MM.
Gain is quoted as 47dB for MM and 71dB for MC with THD stated as being < 0,2% / 1V RMS for both. You get a quartet of RCA inputs with a pair taking care of output duties.
The MC cartridges are connected to the preamplifier input using a high-quality Lundahl step-up transformer.
The Canor PH 2.10 phono preamplifier is available now for £3,499/ €3,499.
