CHORD ELECTRONICS HUGO M SCALER, DAVE DAC AND ETUDE AMP AT NORTH WEST AUDIO SHOW

Kent-based audio specialist, Chord Electronics, will be demonstrating its latest digital front end, the new Hugo M Scaler (upscaler) and DAVE DAC/pre/headphone amp, at The North West Audio Show 2019.
The latest-technology digital source component will be complemented by the recently introduced Etude stereo power amps.
A combination that will offer a taste of the company’s latest analogue technology featuring Chord Electronics’ new Dual Feed Forward amplifier topology which also marks the company’s first all-new amp circuit since its inception in 1989.
The Hugo M Scaler and DAVE DAC combination is capable of upscaling standard 44.1kHz audio to 705.6kHz (or 768kHz from a 96kHz input signal), an incredible 16x the resolution of a standard CD, thanks to Chord Electronics’ biggest-ever tap-length filter, which has for the first time, broken the 1,000,000-tap barrier. Roy Castle would be proud (I think you might need to be British and of a certain age for that one)!
The compact high-resolution system will be plugged into KEF R11 speakers from the fellow Maidstonian brand. Not a bad showing of British hi-fi, we think you will agree.
Price and availability
Hugo M Scaler £3,495; DAVE £8,499; Etude £3,900.
All are available now.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
