Chord Electronics Poly Updated

Chord Electronics Poly has new firmware ready to be installed, adding easier switching between playback methods alongside Bluetooth and AirPlay improvements.

Chord's Poly streamer/ player for the British company's Mojo/Mojo 2 DAC/headphone amplifier gets various background improvements, fixes and updates via the new V3.2.0 firmware.

Poly brings wireless high-resolution music streaming, plus up to 1 TB of microSD card library playback, to Chord Electronic's Mojo DACs.

Key to the new firmware is automatic convenience switching between Roon and other playback methods, such as AirPlay or DLNA/UPnP, negating the need to manually switch within Chord Electronics' partnering configuration app, Gofigure.

Although a seemingly simple upgrade, the addition of convenience switching was a sizable task for Chord Electronics' software engineers and aligns the Poly with the 2go streamer/player for the Hugo 2 DAC/headphone amp, where the feature debuted.

The new firmware also introduces wide-ranging updates, including Bluetooth and AirPlay improvements, DLNA server and Roon functionality, and default radio list additions. There have also been subtle tweaks to the Poly's LED display function.

Chord Poly Update

The new firmware has been rolled out as of August 16th 2023, enabling any Poly device running the previous firmware (3.0.0) to be updated to the latest version.

Before installing any firmware updates, you should be running Gofigure v1.2.133 for Android or v2.12 for iOS.

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
