Clearaudio Announces Limited Edition Reference Jubilee Turntable

Celebrating 40 years of Clearaudio, the Erlangen, Germany based company has unveiled its Reference Jubilee turntable.

After first appearing in 2018 at various shows, its reference turntable is now officially coming to market. The compact triangular form weighs in at over 20kgs and shares the shape of the very first turntable produced by Clearaudio.

The plinth is manufactured from 40mm Panzerholz like the company's Statement turntable and covered at the top and bottom with thick aluminium plates. The platter is 70mm and a combination of stainless steel and polyoxymethylene (POM).

The platter rotates on a specially redesigned, patented CMB ceramic magnetic bearing, and is belt-driven with a flat belt. Drive comes from a 24 V DC non-magnetic motor controlled by a digital system based on a 12-bit DAC. The rotation speed of the 8.5 kg platter is measured by an optical sensor and corrected every 3 seconds. Push buttons allow a choice of speed between 33.3, 45, and 78 RPM.

Clearaudio refers to its Reference Jubilee as "the best of Clearaudio's past, present, and future, ushering in a new era of analogue precision."

A choice of tonearms and cartridges are available, but the Reference Jubilee will be available for £15,000/ €16,500 RRP, without either.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
