Connected-fidelity Float 30 Isolators Released
Connected-fidelity has introduced the Float 30 series to its range of isolation pucks for heavier items and carpeted rooms.
Spotted at the recent and most excellent UK Audio Show, Connected-fidelity's Float range of isolation pucks now includes supports for heavier items and for use on carpeted floors dubbed the Float 30 range.
Float was launched with a range of pucks suited for use under all but the heaviest turntables, streamers, amplifiers and stand-mount loudspeakers. As of today, however, the Connected-fidelity Float 30 range is available, developed so each puck can work under a load of up to 30 Kilos. This translates to a maximum total loading of 120 Kilos over four pucks (90 Kilos over three).
To achieve this, Float 30 eschews POM (very hard plastic), as used with the original Floats, in favour of three chrome steel spheres on the top and bottom faces.
The POM spheres are excellent with lighter components, offering a 'damping' effect to the aluminium Float material construction. However, the spheres could distort under heavy loads. While the steel spheres don't offer the same damping effect, this is not so critical due to the higher masses involved, says Connected-fidelity.
Furthermore, as the new Float 30 pucks are designed for use under racks, floorstanding loudspeakers, large power amplifiers etc., they are also offered as the Carpet Float, featuring spikes for use on carpeted floors (with minimum damage to the carpet!). These are designed to push through the carpet and sit on the solid floor beneath.
Along with the M6 and M8 threaded connectors, there is now a spike 'shoe' retaining option, so components already fitted with integral spikes can be mounted directly onto the Float pucks.
The entire Float range is offered in silver and black colourways. In addition, a Float spike protector set (spike shoe floor protector) is also available for use on solid floors or platforms. Whilst these are not 'isolating' as per the puck design, they offer improved fidelity over using spikes directly and prevent 'spike damage'.
Available now, a set of four Float 30 pucks, complete with four coasters, costs £399. A set of four Carpet Float 30 pucks are also priced at £399, with a four Float spike shoe set costing £139.

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
