Cyrus soundBuds2 Earphones Launched

Cyrus Audio has today launched its second-generation soundBuds true wireless earphones.

Cyrus says its soundBuds2 are a dramatic improvement over the first iteration thanks to larger 6mm drivers, better battery stamina and capacitive touch controls.

The Cyrus soundBuds2 still maintain their lightweight, durable constructions, says the British hi-fi firm. Weighing just 4.3g each, the earbuds hold five hours of charge, with their carrying case offering a further fifteen hours of playtime.

Thanks to ten metres of Bluetooth 5.0 range and their built-in microphone, the soundBuds2 can let you roam free around your house while you take calls and switch to listening to music. Additionally, their IPX5 rating, range of ear tips, and soft ear hooks mean that they can accompany you for your daily exercise, no matter the weather.

The soundBuds2 promise a carefully balanced sound with a neutral tone and excellent dynamic range. We are told that higher-fidelity sound has been prioritised over ‘signal processing’, so they operate without the phasing artefacts of noise-cancellation. Cyrus quotes a frequency range of 20Hz-20KHz.

Simon Freethy, Managing Director of Cyrus, told StereoNET:

Based on the success of the soundBuds, Cyrus listened to the wants and needs of their customers to design an even better in-ear headphone. We have retained the extremely lightweight “fit and forget” design and a small case for “slip in your pocket” portability. Again, we have focused on combining this with superior audio and soundBuds2 are sonically a step up over the previous model. Auto pairing, new touch controls and increased battery life have enhanced the ease of use. The one thing that has not changed is the price, making them even better value.

The Cyrus soundBuds2 will be available Q2 and sold for £79.99.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
