Denon Release AVR-X520BT Affordable 4K Ultra HD AV Receiver

Denon's Australian distributor, Qualifi, have just announced the availability of the AVR-X520BT, an affordable 5.2 channel full 4K Ultra HD AV Receiver with Bluetooth control.

Filling the role as Denon's entry-level home theatre receiver, the AVR-X520BT is built upon the success of Denon's X Series AV models. This new model features built-in wireless Bluetooth streaming along with a unique Bluetooth App control, as well as full HDCP 2.2 for the latest HDMI specification support.

To cope with todays demanding connectivity options, there are a total of five HDMI inputs, three of which support HDCP 2.2/4K60Hz which is ample to connect modern HDMI devices such as game consoles, Blu-ray players or streaming set-top-boxes. The AVR-X520BT supports full rate 4K Ultra HD along with 4:4:4 Pure Color sub-sampling pass-through. Also featured is 3D compatibility on all HDMI inputs.

Thanks to the built-in wireless Bluetooth connectivity, users can now simply connect their Bluetooth-capable smartphone to stream their favourite audio tracks. The receiver will remember up to 8 paired Bluetooth devices, so once connected, the whole family can quickly access the device. It is also equipped with a convenient USB port on the front panel for music file playback (including MP3, WMA, FLAC and AAC) and charging portable devices.

Download the Denon Bluetooth App to control the AVR-X520BT from any Bluetooth device. Functions include On/Off, Volume Up/Down, Mute and Source Selection. The app is available now in an Android version, and an iOS version will be available soon according to Denon.

Setting up the AV Receiver is quick and easy thanks to the Denon Setup Assistant. Supplied in the box with the AVR-X520BT is a setup measuring microphone that adjusts critical system parameters for the individual speaker system and listening space.

The AVR-X520BT comes equipped with 4 Quick Select function buttons that let the user choose from the most popular input sources. With Quick Select, the AVR-X520BT remembers preferred sources as well as preferred audio settings for each source so he can enjoy precisely tailored sound with each one. The buttons can also be selected through the Bluetooth App or the ergonomically designed remote control.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
