DYNAUDIO SHOWS NEW CONFIDENCE IN MUNICH

From an exclusive launch at the High End Show in Munich this week, Dynaudio has thoroughly revised the four speakers comprising the Confidence range.
The four revised Confidence 2018 models are the Confidence 20 bookshelf speakers and the Confidence 30, 50 and 60 floor-standers.
Brand new for each speaker is an Esotar3 soft dome tweeter developed from the Esotar2 that was carried by the previous confidence models.
Dynaudio says the new tweeter is the pinnacle of its soft dome tweeter design and it incorporates the brand’s cutting-edge airflow optimisation technology used in the award-winning Esotar Forty anniversary speaker.
The new tweeter’s rear chamber is now much larger to reduce resonances. Damping has also been improved.
The Esotar3 is fitted with a powerful, neodymium magnet to yield greater sensitivity and control.
The benefits, Dynaudio says add up to higher detail resolution, better clarity and even better dynamics.
The new models replace the older series use of two tweeters with a single tweeter. The change was made possible by Dynaudio’s development of a new DCC (Dynaudio Directivity Control) Lens that is an aluminium waveguide that aids dispersion and improves sound staging.
The new series also carry a new MSP midrange driver that sits flush with the baffle to eliminate diffractions from the cone and tweeter.
The latest Confidence models sport new cabinets. For the baffle, gone is MDF, replaced by a material made from a Compex composite said to be sturdy but light.
The Confidence 20 is a large two-way stand mount with an 18cm woofer and Esotar3 tweeter. The Confidence 30 medium size floor-stander is a three-way with an extra 15 cm midrange.
The Confidence 30 is a medium-sized three-way loudspeaker with two 18cm woofers with neo magnets, one 15cm midrange also with neo magnet, and one Esotar3 tweeter featuring DDC Lens.
The Confidence 50 that is a bigger 3-way model with two 18 cm woofers, two 15cm midranges and Esotar3 tweeter with DDC Lens.
Completing the range is the flagship Confidence 60 which is an extra-large 3-way floor-stander that features two 24cm woofers with neo magnets, two 15cm midrange drivers and a single Esotar3 tweeter with the DDC Lens.
The new range comes in midnight; smoke and raven wood high gloss finishes. A blonde wood finish will also be available.
The revised Confidence models will be launched towards the end of this year.
Early pricing for Australia is expected to be - Confidence 20 ($19,999 RRP), Confidence 30 ($33,999 RRP), Confidence 50 ($44,999 RRP) and Confidence 60 ($69,999 RRP). Prices subject to change based on currency exchange rates.
Coinciding with the launch of the revised Confidence range, Australian Dynaudio distributor Busisoft AV are also celebrating after being awarded Distributor of the Year for 2018, backing up 2017's achievement of the same award.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
