FALCON ACOUSTICS INTROS R.A.M. STUDIO RANGE

British speaker brand Falcon Acoustics is perhaps best known for hand-building the world-famous LS3/5a monitor exclusively to the original BBC specification. Now it introduces its new Reference Audio Monitor (R.A.M.) range.
With three models, the whole range features pristine 25mm MDF cabinets in European Walnut, High Gloss Black or Burr Walnut real wood veneers. Additionally, they sport leather-wrapped baffles which feature interchangeable side panels to match future changes in room décor.
Falcon’s commitment to quality is further shown by the use of heavy-duty Falcon-designed rear terminals, mounted on 2mm stainless steel plates. For the floor-standing Studio 30, a heavy plinth is provided complete with CNC precision-engineered stainless steel spikes.
The Studio 10, the smallest in the range, is a 2-way ported stand-mount speaker utilising a 150mm (5-inch) Polypropylene cone woofer and custom 25mm (1-inch) soft dome tweeter. Falcon says that the Studio 10 delivers a smooth response with outstanding detail, precise imaging and an extended soundstage in a stylish stand-mount format.
The Studio 20 is a larger stand mount 2-way ported speaker loaded with a 170 mm (6-inch) Polypropylene cone bass unit selected specifically for extended bass and accuracy. It is also equipped with a custom 25 mm (1-inch) soft dome tweeter. Expect good bass extension, exceptional imaging and a wide soundstage.
Rounding off the series is the Studio 30. This is a 3-way floor-stander, offering outstanding sound quality and a class-leading specification. Twin 170 mm (6-inch) Polypropylene cone woofers especially made for Falcon merge. The proprietary Falcon 50 mm (2-inch) dome midrange driver hands over to a custom 25 mm (1-inch) soft dome tweeter. Falcon tells us that this configuration offers music lovers exceptional midrange detail and an even tonality throughout.
The R.A.M Series will be available from June 2018 and will sell for Studio 10 (European Walnut £1395, High Gloss Black, Burr Walnut £1495), Studio 20 (European Walnut £1995, High Gloss Black, Burr Walnut £2120), Studio 30 (European Walnut £3495, High Gloss Black £3925, Burr Walnut £4095).

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
