Ferrum Hypsos Hybrid Power System Introduces New Brand
A new name in audio equipment, Ferrum, makes its introduction via what it classes as a "revolutionary power supply", called Hypsos.
Ferrum, built by HEM who is also responsible for Mytek is based in Poland, and under this new moniker has produced the Hypsos hybrid power system.
Ferrum's Hypsos is a user-configurable DC PSU that operates over a 5V-30V range and includes pre-loaded (voltage) values for over 100 existing DC-powered products.
Ferrum has already set the tone by referring to their 21.7 x 20.6 x 5 cm (WxDxH) PSU as a 'power system' along with naming it Hypsos, ancient Greek for 'the concept of the sublime', according to the brand.
Behind the Corten steel and black anodised aluminium front panel sits a combination of the best features offered by both linear and switching power supplies, boasts Ferrum. For instance, low ripple and noise as well as fast transient response and high efficiency.
The Hypsos is not only good looking for a power supply, but it also seems to make perfect sense in that it offers simple set-up as well as compatibility with Apple TV remotes and home automation triggers. Furthermore, you can choose from a range of pre-configured settings from an extensive list of supported devices or manually set custom parameters via a large dial and easy to read screen. We are told that this software-controlled operation is an industry first, no less!
Additionally, other features include Sweet Spot Tuning (SST) that allows you to fine-tune the output voltage for the best sound, and 4T Sensing Design (4TSD) which, we are told, ensures the exact voltage level precisely at the point of the powered device DC input terminal - special cable design and feedback to ensure flat voltage at every moment.
The Ferrum Hypsos is packaged with a "high-quality DC power cable" fitted to order, enabling connection to most suited audio electronics, and costs £1,100/ €995.
