Final Audio’s new DX4000CL headphones sit above the DX3000CL and aim to fix a common problem with closed-back cans.

While the DX4000CL utilises a closed-back design, Final says it doesn’t inherit the usual trait of presenting music with an unwanted overabundance of low-end response.
Instead, Final states that this new premium-priced model “centres on balance, control and spatial realism.”

To achieve the desired result, a newly designed 40mm Paper-Carbon dynamic driver, said to optimise the airflow within the housing, has been used. This careful driver design promises “accurate low-frequency reproduction” whilst also contributing to the headphone’s “highly resolving character,” the brand says.

Furthermore, the internal acoustic structure is also tuned to suppress unwanted resonance as much as possible. This focused engineering should mitigate wayward bass response, resulting in improved clarity and fidelity across the midband and high-end.

Final doesn’t state a frequency response figure for the DX4000CL, but does say the headphones have a 96dB/mW sensitivity and 37Ω (1kHz) impedance.

Finally, regarding spatial realism and clarity, the company provides the DX4000CL with a silver-coated cable as standard. Final states that the cable “allows fine details to emerge with greater clarity and texture, further reinforcing the sense of an open soundstage and elevating overall transparency.”

The DX4000CL has a clean, minimalist design featuring a resin housing and synthetic-leather and memory-foam earpads.
The Final DX4000CL is available now, priced at £949 | US$999 | €999.
