Gold Note Unveils A6 and A3 EVO II Loudspeakers

Gold Note has announced its A6 EVO II floorstanding and A3 EVO II standmount loudspeakers.
Gold Note's A3 EVO II and A6 EVO II loudspeakers are the latest iterations from the Italian high-end audio equipment manufacturer.
Both speakers will suit rooms where space is at a premium as even the 1080mm tall floorstanding A6 EVO II sports a slender room-friendly design measuring just 230mm wide by 285mm deep.
The diamond-shaped body of the Gold Note A6 NOTE II is not only eye-catching, but it also apparently helps to control resonance feedback. Additionally, the cabinet features aluminium insertions that enable the ultra-rigid structure to enhance power control and provide a greater dynamic response, says the company.
The 1-inch Audax silk dome tweeter is specifically tuned to match the character of the loudspeaker. With its rigid aluminium flange, we're told that it maintains ultra-clean and powerful high frequencies.
A pair of SEAS's new 5-inch treated paper mid-bass drivers boast massive magnets to control power and are said to guarantee extended bass response and exceptionally fast transients while retaining full natural music reproduction.
Finally, a 6-inch SEAS woven polypropylene cone subwoofer sits in a custom-made injection-moulded metal chassis. Additionally, it is placed in a separate sealed chamber. The downward-firing driver is matched with a sophisticated cabinet stand to ensure the best power extension and easy room positioning.
Altogether, the design results in a quoted frequency response of 40Hz-20kHz ±3dB and 88dB SPL 2,83V/1m sensitivity. The Gold Note A6 EVOII is rated with a 4 ohm nominal impedance. The crossovers handoff at 60Hz and 2000Hz @ 12dB/Oct.
The loudspeaker sits on a solid wooden stand with a bottom bass reflex port. The crossover components are made exclusively by Mundorf and Clarity. We are assured that no compromises have been made on the design, and only top-quality parts have been chosen.
If you're looking for a two-way bass reflex bookshelf loudspeaker that shares the A6 EVO II's design flare, then the A3 EVO II might be just what you're looking for.
Again, we're informed that exceptional components are the order of the day. So, the 1-inch Audax silk dome tweeter makes another appearance, this time paired with a 6-inch SEAS woven polypropylene mid-bass driver crossing over at 2300Hz at 12dB/Oct. Together, the drivers are stated to be good for a 45Hz-20kHz ±3dB frequency response and 87dB SPL 2,83V/1m sensitivity along with a nominal impedance of 6 ohm.
The A3 EVO II is offered with an optional stand constructed from black lacquered HDF. In addition, the 8mm thick profiled aluminium plate is said to also support the A3 EVO II sonic performance.
The Gold Note A3 EVO II costs £3,500 in black gloss or matt walnut with an additional £300 if you'd like the high-gloss walnut finish. Meanwhile, the A6 EVO II is £6,000 in black gloss or matt walnut, with the high-gloss walnut finish adding another £500.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
