Goldmund TELOS 1800 Power Amp Unveiled

Ultra high-end Swiss audio brand Goldmund announced its newest mono power amp, the Telos 1800.

With a maximum power of 420Wrms (8 Ω) with just 1% total harmonic distortion (THD), the Telos 1800 slots in nicely between the Telos 3300 NextGen and Telos 1000 NextGen models in Goldmund's mono power amplifier lineup. At 30Vrms output, the Telos 1800 has a THD+N of less than 0.05%, ensuring distortion is extremely low.

The amplifier has an output noise floor of < 3μV from 20Hz to 20kHz when unloaded, along with a gain of 35dB, a dynamic range of 110dB and a damping factor of 600 at 1kHz (8Ω).

Thanks to hardware improvements like increasing the thickness of the panel structure to 12mm up from 6-8mm, the Telos 1800's enclosure is even more rigid, improving the amplifier's mechanical grounding and vibration dispersion.

On the rear, there is an AC earth binding post, two output binding posts, a 4B speaker connector output, RCA unbalanced input, XLR balanced input, digital input and output RCA connectors, as well as an RS232 command connector.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
