Goldmund Telos 8800 Amp - World’s Most Powerful

Goldmund's Telos 8800 monoblock power amplifier claims to be the world's most powerful class AB linear amp, delivering an impressive 1400Wrms of power (8 Ω) with just 1% total harmonic distortion (THD).
We are told that the Telos 8800 is Goldmund's response to the growing demand for increased capacity and power. Fitted with the new Goldmund MKP silver-metallised polypropylene film cap capacitor, this is said to ensure a supremely stable supply for the Mosfet output stage and guarantees optimal stability even for demanding 1 Ω loads.
Measuring 113x42x47 cm (HxWxD) and weighing 265 kg per unit, the Telos 8800 features four separate electronic boards to maximise system stability. By adding four pairs of output transistors per side, a total of 16x transistors per unit, Goldmund says that this significantly elevates performance compared to the previous T5500 NG model.
Moreover, the capacitor bank has been extended to include eight massive capacitors of 15,000 uF each, guaranteeing high energy storage and a more efficient power supply thanks to a power transistor that keeps the amplifier running effortlessly.
The Telos 8800 has been engineered with a fully analogue circuit, ensuring maximum thermal security and short-circuit protection. It promptly shuts down if an issue is detected, protecting your speakers and amplifier. Additionally, the new top-of-the-range mono amplifier sports a significantly larger heatsink that enhances heat dissipation and preserves electrical conductivity. This, claims Goldmund, results in impeccable audio quality.
Naturally, Goldmund uses all-gold metal terminals and screws; meanwhile, the casement's seamless construction features the emblematic rock texture on the sides and no visible screws aside from those on the rear connection panel that features an AC GND binding post, an AC earth binding post, two output binding posts, a Lemo 4B speaker output, RCA unbalanced input, XLR balanced input, Digital input and output RCA connectors, and an RS232 command connector.
The Goldmund Telos 8800 retails in the UK for £350,000 each (£700,000 a pair).

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
