Goldring E4 Range-Topping Cartridge Announced Before Munich Debut

Goldring's E4 moving magnet phono cartridge has been unveiled ahead of its premier appearance at High End Munich 2023.
Goldring's E4 is the new E series range-topping cartridge, jumping ahead of the E3; the company claims it is "the ultimate upgrade for any modern budget or midrange turntable."
The E4 is designed to be the "pinnacle of E Series engineering and performance". It boasts a hollow aluminium cantilever tipped with a new super-elliptical nude diamond stylus measuring 0.3 x 0.7 mil. The cartridge weighs the same as the E3 (6.9g), with Goldring recommending 1.75g as the optimum tracking weight, along with a 20° vertical tracking angle.
According to the company, the Goldring E4's lower mass and improved rigidity enable improved medium to high-frequency tracking resulting in greater accuracy and detail.
Additionally, Goldring tells us that its Magnetic Duplex Technology, alongside "optimised channel balance and crosstalk settings" during the production process, allows the E4 to read the vinyl stereo groove with more accuracy to deliver a more convincing soundstage.
The E4 shares the cartridge body design with its series siblings but sports a cool blue underside, whereas the entry-level E1 is red, E2 is green, and the E3 is violet.
The Goldring E4 cartridge is available from June/July, costing £199/ €259, and the E4 stylus is priced at £145/ €185.
If you're heading to the High End Show 2023 in Munich this week from May 18th to the 21st, you can hear the Goldring E4 in action. Find them in room A (Atrium) 4.1, F110, in concert with the recently announced QED Golden Anniversary XT speaker cable and Q Acoustics 5000 speaker series.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
