iBasso proclaims its new flagship, the DX340, is a “reference-grade digital audio player” that will “deliver uncompromising sound quality.”

Designed for “discerning users who demand both sonic excellence and intuitive usability on the go,” the DX340 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor and offers 256GB of internal storage, which can be further augmented to 2TB via the player’s microSD slot.

The DX340 houses iBasso's latest audio engine, a 1-bit discrete DAC configuration controlled by iBasso’s advanced FPGA-Master 3.0 system. This, we are promised, results in “remarkable clarity, ultra-low distortion and exceptional timing precision.”

As one would hope for a flagship DAP, the iBasso DX340 generously supports high-resolution audio formats, including PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz and native DSD512 decoding.

You also get a choice of operating systems as the DX340 runs two in parallel - the audio-focused Mango OS for the purest playback path possible or a full Android 13 environment for flexible streaming and app access.

Naturally, most things are accessed via the “vibrant and responsive” 6-inch 1080x2160 AMOLED display in the stainless steel chassis. There is also a volume wheel alongside external power and play/pause controls.

Connectivity-wise, the DX340 includes balanced and single-ended headphone outputs, a coaxial output, and Bluetooth 5.0 for when you want to go untethered in the gym and such.

Finally, iBasso’s modular amp tech adds more flexibility. The standard AMP15 module delivers “industry-leading output power and low noise” and is said to be capable of driving a wide range of headphones from sensitive in-ear monitors to full-size over-ear models. You can then choose to upgrade to alternative AMP modules as they become available to tailor the sound to your personal preferences. The DX340 interchangeable amplifier cards are compatible with multiple amplifier cards, such as the AMP1X series, AMP12, AMP13, and AMP14, and will also be compatible with future AMP1X series cards.

The iBasso DX340 is available priced at £1,499 | $1,699 for the standard model and £1,899 for a limited-edition titanium version featuring a CNC-milled titanium housing and AMP15 module.
