Investing in Emotiva Brings Peace of Mind

Thanks to Emotiva's modular design and construction, it's times just like this when new codecs and surround formats are released you can be thankful.

Emotiva's XMC-1 is a state-of-the-art 7.2 Channel Preamp Processor, destined to be the heart of your home cinema or two channel system.

One thing is for certain, when you buy your groceries or new threads you don't think for a second about your purchase becoming redundant or obselete any time soon. Not the case in the technology sector and particularly in Audio Visual. The mighty Apple corporation may have enough fans and the draw to release new models every 6 months and the loyal will flock to upgrade.

So the clever folk at Emotiva embarked on a design process that involves putting the technology that moves rapidly on seperate boards, modular in construction. This means that as new technology emerges you don't have to replace your entire unit. You can just purchase the appropriate upgrade.

This was an approach that has paid off. This week two new enhancements have been announced for the XMC-1.

XMC-1 Technology Advancement 1 - HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2

A replacement board that will upgrade the HDMI from 1.4a to the latest spec HDMI 2.0 with HDCP 2.2 has been released which provides one HDMI 2.0 input and one HDMI 2.0 output, with full HDCP 2.2 support. The upgrade board will be available for $449 RRP to anyone who purchased their XMC-1 at an authorised Australian Emotiva dealer.

It can be fitted by Australia's Emotiva distributor, Final Link Audio, or by the user with the instructions provided.

XMC-1 Technology Enhancement 2 - Dolby Atmos and DTS-X

The processor board can now be upgraded to add support for the latest Dobly Atmos and DTS-X formats. Available in early 2017, the new board repurposes Mix Outputs and Zone 2 Analog Outputs for use with the new formats. The upgrade will be included standard on 2017 XMC-1 models, or can upgrade previous releases for $699 RRP.

The Dolby Atmos / DTS-X upgrade does not require teh HDMI 2.0 upgrade to function.

The Emotiva XMC-1 has a clear path to the future so that you can enjoy your investment in superb sound for a long, long time.

The XMC-1 redefines everything you know about affordable home theater. With a true balanced audiophile signal path, high-performance HDMI video switching that supports up to 4k/60Hz, and Dirac Live for Emotiva™ room correction, this made-in-the-USA masterpiece offers audio performance and sound quality that competes with the best analog preamps, combined with video performance and features that rival home theater preamp/processors costing up to ten times as much.

The XMC-1 7.2 Preamplifier / Processor is available now for $3,999 RRP.

Emotiva is distributed in Australia by Final Link Audio.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
