IsoAcoustics Announces Aperta Sub Isolation Solution for Subwoofers

IsoAcoustics, the Canadian company and one of the hottest names in audio isolation control products right now, has announced its new Aperta Sub isolation for subwoofers.

IsoAcoustic's Aperta Sub is dubbed "a clever solution to maximise your enjoyment of bass whilst keeping the neighbours happy" by the Canucks themselves. This specially designed isolation stand will suit subwoofers weighing up to 36.3 kg.

According to IsoAcoustics, we are hard-wired to pick up bass rhythms more than other tones, and low bass frequencies allow the listener to feel a deep syncopated connection to their favourite music or movies. But despite our love for bass, the large pulsating driver produces energy and vibrations that travel through solid structures.

Room acoustic treatment alone doesn't solve these problems and doesn't mitigate structure borne-noises. IsoAcoustics proudly boasts that its Aperta Sub isolation stand "not only reduces these disturbances but also delivers better sounding audio."

By decoupling the subwoofer from its supporting surface, the Aperta Sub manages the energy from the subwoofer and prevents the physical transfer of energy through the supporting structure.

The Aperta Sub consists of top and bottom isolators, each connected by a rigid frame that provides a stable base and lifts the subwoofer off the floor. The patented IsoAcoustics isolators are directional and designed to be aligned with the subwoofers drivers to maintain the energy on-axis. The company says that this high degree of isolation will also clean up the muddy low-frequencies to reveal more bass definition.

IsoAcoustics Aperta SubIt has a low-profile and compact design, measuring 265mm W x 290mm D x 33mm H and is designed for both front-firing and side-firing subwoofers weighing up to 36.3kg. The Aperta Sub also includes carpet disks which feature 15mm spikes that anchor into carpeted surfaces for a stronger connection.

Available now, the IsoAcoustics Aperta Sub sells for £149 RRP.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
