JAVA Hi-Fi Single Shot & Double Shot Amplifiers Available

JAVA Hi-Fi has revealed a new, six-strong line-up of amplifiers that are ready for global shipping.
JAVA Hi-Fi's new Single Shot and Double Shot pre, power, and integrated amplifiers boast "breakthrough technologies" and "unique circuit designs".
We have been keeping tabs on this New Zealand-based amplifier designer and manufacturer since 2016 and caught up with Martin Bell at the Munich High-End show, most recently in 2019.
Amongst other high-end components, JAVA Hi-Fi's amplifiers feature GaN FET (gallium nitride) transistors and LDRs (light-dependent resistors). In fact, we're told that the JAVA integrated amplifier is the world's first integrated amplifier to use GaN FET (gallium nitride) transistors. Moreover, JAVA boasts it is the world's first amplifier to include LDRs and GaN FET transistors in the same circuit.
JAVA states that the LDR technology used in its pre-amplifiers and integrated amplifiers works by isolating the signal path from other control electronics. They say this provides the delicate audio signal with the shortest, cleanest possible path from input to output.
Meanwhile, the GaN FET-based modules used in the integrated and power amplifiers promise "a giant leap forward" in Class D sound, with "vanishingly low" intermodulation and total harmonic distortion (IMD and THD).
Martin Bell, Founder & CEO of JAVA Hi-Fi, told StereoNET:
When combined, the LDR and GaN FET technology reproduce music with extraordinary realism. Subtle new details are revealed in familiar pieces of music, and the listener is enveloped in a tone-rich soundscape that brings them closer to the heart of the musical performance.
As you may have already noticed, aesthetics are crucial for the new JAVA Hi-Fi amplifiers, with customisable casework and front panels available across the entire range.
Casework finishes are available in mid-century modern notables such as walnut and copper, alongside classics like black on black or minimalist options like white and silver.
The full range of JAVA Hi-Fi amplifiers is available in Single Shot and Double Shot strengths. For instance, the Double Shot integrated is rated at 400 watts/8 ohms (800 watts/4 ohms), whereas the Single Shot version clocks in at 200 watts/8 ohms (400 watts/4 ohms). The Double Shot also features "true dual mono topology".
Furthermore, you can also create bespoke amp designs on the JAVA Hi-Fi website via the online configurator.
JAVA Hi-Fi products are designed and assembled in New Zealand and are shipping worldwide now with the Integrated amps priced at £9,290 and £11,190 for Single Shot and Double Shot, respectively; the pre-amps cost £4,890 and £5,890 with the power amplifiers coming in at £6,790 for the Single Shot and £8,995 for the Double Shot.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
