With the L100 Classic Mkll, JBL announces the "next evolution in the reborn legend", combining 70s vintage aesthetics and "modern acoustic excellence". This is groovy news, as we have already enjoyed the L100's first reincarnation.

JBL proudly states that the 12-inch (300mm) three-way standmount loudspeaker has undergone meticulous upgrades and features the company's top-of-the-line acoustic components to elevate the sound quality of this legendary speaker.

The L100 Classic MkII incorporates enhanced features, including an updated woofer, midrange, and tweeter. It also boasts a revised crossover network that supports bi-wire/bi-amp capabilities, ensuring listeners get the best sound clarity and depth. We're also told its terminal cup is equipped with dual sets of gold-plated binding posts for reliable connections.

Within the L100 Classic MkII's genuine satin walnut wood veneer cabinet and behind the iconic Quadrex foam grille you will find a 12-inch cast-frame with pure-pulp white cone woofer with dual spider, partnered with a 5.25-inch (130mm) polymer-coated pure-pulp cone midrange driver and 1-inch (25mm) titanium dome tweeter mated to acoustic lens and waveguide. As one would expect with an L100, you also get high-frequency and mid-frequency level attenuators. There is also a front-firing bass reflex port, simplifying positioning options.

JBL L100 Classic MkII

We are told that the L100 Classic MkII has a 40Hz – 40kHz (-6dB) frequency response, with 450Hz and 3.5kHz crossover frequencies, and can handle 25-200 Watts RMS power handling.

You have a choice of classic black, vibrant orange, or cool blue for your Quadrex foam grille to go alongside that satin walnut veneer, while the rear of the 25.06 x 15.34 x 14.625 inches (636.52 x 389.64 x 371.48mm) and 58.5 lbs (26.7kg) loudspeaker cabinets are finished in black.

Finally, JBL offers the optional JS-120/JS-150 floor stands (sold separately) that position the loudspeaker at the proper listening height. The L82 Classic has also received similar attention if the L100 is too large for your requirements.

The JBL L100 Classic MkII are available now in the UK, priced at £3,995 per pair. Local pricing and availability has not yet been confirmed.
