Kaleidescape Finally Launches in Australia

In an announcement that Australian home cinema enthusiasts have been waiting on for decades, Kaleidescape, the ultimate way to watch movies, is now available in Australia.

The California-based company Kaleidescape has been designing, manufacturing, and selling state-of-the-art movie players and servers for over 20 years. You may not have heard of it, but in most regions of the world, you would be hard-pressed not to find a Kaleidescape product featuring as the source of any high-end residential home cinema. Kaleidescape digitally delivers movies with lossless audio and reference video - at a higher quality than Blu-ray physical media. Even more importantly, Kaleidescape offers movies sooner after the theatrical release than Netflix and other subscription video streaming services, and delivers the content at up to ten times higher audio and video bitrates!

Effective immediately, Kaleidescape has appointed Melbourne-based Audio Active as its exclusive distributor for Australia, marking the brand's entry into the Asia Pacific region.

Priscilla Morgan, Kaleidescape's President and COO, told StereoNET:

Australia has passionate home theatre enthusiasts who appreciate the very best in picture and sound quality. Expanding into this market with a strong partner like Audio Active allows us to offer Australian customers the ultimate entertainment experience in their homes.

The appointment of an official Australian distributor coincides with the launch of the Australian Kaleidescape movie store, which hosts around 6,000 titles, including HD and 4K resolution at launch. It is understood new licensing agreements are being signed all the time to rapidly expand the range of titles available, which range from around A$9 to A$35 each.

Bruce Thierbach, General Manager of Sales & Marketing, Audio Active, added:

We are thrilled to partner with Kaleidescape to bring the world's best home cinema technology to Australian customers. With an extensive selection of titles and industry-leading playback quality, Kaleidescape sets a new standard for premium home entertainment in Australia.

Australian customers will have access to the complete product lineup, including Kaleidescape Strato V ($7,499), Strato C ($5,899) and Strato M ($3,999) movie players. Customers can add one or more Terra movie servers to customise their entertainment needs; configuration options include Terra Prime 12TB, 24TB, and 48TB (from $10,999).

The newly launched Strato M Movie Player is the company's entry-level movie player, providing lossless audio and reference-quality 2K video output, and includes 480Gb SSD storage.

Home cinema enthusiasts will likely opt for the brand's 4K and flagship offerings in the Strato C and Strato V, with the latter including support for Dolby Vision and in-built 960Gb storage. Additional storage is available with the Terra Prime servers.

Integrators will also love Kaleidescape for its deep integration and automation options. It can distribute high-quality video and audio across multiple rooms within one home, with up to 25 concurrent playbacks! It can also be customised to control lighting, blinds, screen aspect ratios and much more.

Kaleidescape offers the very best way to consume the latest TV Series, Movies, and concerts in your own home with lossless audio and reference video, and we couldn't be more pleased that it's finally available in Australia.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
