KEF LS50 Wireless II Adds Amazon Hi-Res Audio Support
KEF's Applause Award-winning LS50 Wireless II has just got even better-connected thanks to the addition of Amazon hi-res audio support.
The KEF LS50 Wireless II speaker system has added Amazon Music support to its list of skills alongside its Roon Ready certification gained earlier this year. Now, subscribers to Amazon Music can enjoy tracks labelled as 'HD' or 'Ultra HD' through the LS50 Wireless II in all their high-resolution glory.
Our own Matthew Jens said that the LS50 Wireless II boasts "a detailed and nuanced sound signature, superb imaging and lots of power" when he pinned an Applause Award to its compact casement. This performance was undoubtedly mainly due to KEF's clever Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT) and 12th generation Uni-Q driver array featured in these superb standmounts. Well, that and "the fine wireless implementation, ease of set-up and useful connectivity options". The latter includes coaxial (24-bit/192kHz), optical (24-bit/96kHz), 3.5mm aux inputs, and, finally, HDMI eARC so you can hook them up to your television, too!
With Amazon Music, you get access to over 70 million tracks in lossless 'HD' (16-bit/44.1kHz) and hi-res 'Ultra HD' (24-bit/192kHz) quality. This tier was initially as the premium Amazon Music HD with a higher subscription price to along with it. However, perhaps in reaction to Apple Music's free lossless and spatial offerings, Amazon now includes its HD titles with Amazon Music Unlimited, which costs £7.99 per month for Prime members and £9.99 per month for everyone else.
Best of all - you can now hear your hi-res selections on KEF's LS50 Wireless II, which is available now for £2,499.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
