KEF Q Series Adds Walnut Finish
KEF has added a third colour finish for the Q Series mid-priced range of loudspeakers in the UK.
KEF's Q series bookshelf, floorstanding and centre speaker models are now available in a classic Walnut finish.
Featuring tone-matched drive units, the range has a clean, contemporary, and minimalist design and is now in its 8th iteration. It boasts several acoustic innovations and enhancements that promise to deliver high-resolution sound with depth and clarity.
The legendary Uni-Q driver array is at the heart of the evolved Q Series. This signature innovation places the tweeter in the acoustic centre of the midrange and bass cone, bringing the acoustic ideal of a single-point source closer than ever to realisation.
With this sit-anywhere Uni-Q sound, KEF states that you can expect to hear effortlessly sharp, clear highs, sweetly robust midrange, and fast and clean bass with minimum distortion at any volume - a more accurate three-dimensional sound that's dispersed evenly throughout the room.
Floorstanders Q950, Q750, and Q550 feature a closed box midrange cabinet for "drastically" reduced distortion. Meanwhile, according to the brand, the low-frequency driver with dual ABRs (Auxiliary Bass Radiator) provides deeper and tighter bass reproduction.
Each model in the range also boasts a seamless baffle and magnetic grilles (as an optional accessory), guaranteeing a beautifully clean look. Additionally, when paired with the B2 Wall Bracket, the Q Series bookshelf speakers can even better integrate into your home space.
Now in Satin Black, Satin White, and Walnut finishes, the KEF Q series starts with the Q150 and Q350 bookshelf speakers at £449 and £549 per pair, respectively. The floorstanders range from the Q550 at £849 per pair and Q750 costing £1,199 per pair. Topping the range is the Q950, which is priced at £1,599 per pair. The Q250c and Q650c centre speakers cost £499 and £599 per piece. Finally, only available in satin black or white, the Q50a Dolby Atmos-enabled speaker sells for £499 per pair.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
