LG ROLLS OUT APPLE AIRPLAY 2 AND HOMEKIT SUPPORT

LG Electronics has announced that commencing this week its 2019 AI TV lineup will support Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit. This added connectivity makes LG is the first global TV manufacturer to support HomeKit.
Available via a free firmware update, the new features are compatible with 2019 LG OLED TVs, LG SUPER UHD and UHD TVs with ThinQ AI capability.
With AirPlay 2, you'll be able to stream content -- including Dolby Vision titles – from compatible iPhone, iPad and Mac straight to the TV.
Users can also stream their favourite movies and television shows from the Apple TV app and other video apps. Also, compatible TV owners will be able to play Apple Podcasts, Apple Music and music from their library or other streaming services to LG AI TVs, and other AirPlay 2-compatible speakers in their home at the same time, all in sync.
With Apple HomeKit, users will be able to conveniently control their smart home with the Home app or via Siri on their Apple devices. Once a compatible LG TV is added to the Home app, you can control basic TV functions such as power, volume and source. 2019 LG AI TVs can also be added to scenes or automations along with other HomeKit accessories.
Brian Kwon, president LG Mobile Communications and Home Entertainment companies, said:
LG remains at the forefront of TV technological innovation because of our continuous quest to deliver the best home viewing experience,
With Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support, we are demonstrating our commitment to offering consumer benefits that go beyond excellent picture quality.
The Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit firmware update will begin rolling out to compatible LG TVs in more than 140 countries this week, including Australia.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
