Meze Audio's Liric 2nd Generation headphones are touted as "a major evolution" of its impressive Liric closed-back model that we have reviewed. We are told to expect "performance enhancements" alongside an attractive striped ebony wood finish and more modularity for easier upgrades and longevity.

Meze tells us that the Liric 2nd Generation's sound profile has been tweaked, resulting in a "compelling blend of clear, accurate audio performance with a touch of warmth for added depth".
Additionally, a "smoother listening experience" is promised thanks to fitting a new QWRM (Quarter Wavelength Resonator Mask). This precision-crafted metal plate strategically covers select openings in the driver frame to attenuate high-frequency peaks above 7kHz.

Liric 2nd Generation continues Meze Audio's relationship with Rinaro for its planar magnetic technology. The Isodynamic Hybrid Array driver combined with the closed-back design is said to preserve the original clarity and emotion of your favourite music thanks, in part, to decent passive isolation. Each driver is hand-assembled and tested in Rinaro's specialist workshops in Ukraine.

The Liric 2nd Generation headphones also follow Meze Audio's mission for enhanced sustainability and choice. They feature detachable magnetic earpads that can be easily repaired and replaced. The striped ebony earcups not only look beautiful but also deliver hardwood durability.

Liric 2nd Generation comes with Meze Audio's premium hand-braided copper cable as standard: a 4.4mm design ideal for portable players and headphone amps, plus a 3m TPE cable for home listening. The company says the Liric 2nd Generation's modular design allows easy cable upgrades and replacements.

Meze Audio's founder and lead designer, Antonio Meze, told StereoNET:
Developing great headphones means listening to a lot of music and also listening to our community carefully, too! Liric was already an impressive headphone, but based on feedback from our customers and reviewers, we've taken its capabilities to new heights with the new Liric 2nd Generation.

Liric 2nd Generation headphones are available now with a suggested retail price of £1,850/ €2,000.
