Monitor Audio Bronze 6G Range Launched

Monitor Audio's Bronze 6G loudspeakers have officially launched today.

Following their debut at this year's Bristol Hi-Fi Show, Monitor Audio has today officially launched its sixth generation Bronze loudspeaker family.

Monitor Audio Bronze 6G

The rear-ported speaker range starts at £260 for a pair of Bronze 50 speakers and, what is exciting is that, rather than a few quality-boosting tweaks, Monitor Audio has totally redesigned and re-specced the Bronze line. So, not only has the Bronze loudspeakers received a complete upgrade in both sound and build quality, but even the cabinet sizes have changed.

The 6th Gen Bronze Series features a new Uniform Dispersion Waveguide to partner with Monitor Audio’s signature C-CAM Gold Dome Tweeter. We are told that this results in even sound dispersion, improved time alignment and wider directivity. Not only does the acoustically transparent hexagonal dispersion patterns on the tweeter covers lend the Bronze range some premium cachet, but it also allows the light to glint off those distinctive gold tweeter domes.

The new Bronze range also sees Monitor Audio adding Dolby Atmos modules for the first time. The new Atmos topper is fitted with an upward-firing 4-inch driver, and the units are designed to match the Bronze 50 standmounter and Bronze 200 floorstander cabinet tops.  On the subject of cabinets, the units are constructed from braced 15mm MDF. They are available in Black (black vinyl and satin dark grey front baffle), White (white vinyl and satin light grey front baffle), Walnut (walnut wood vinyl and satin dark grey front baffle), and Urban Grey (grey wood vinyl and satin light grey front baffle).

All but the two floorstanders, the Bronze 200 and 500, are 2-way designs whereas those are 2.5-way and feature a pair of HiVe II ports. All the speakers (except the woofer, naturally) have a claimed upper in-room frequency range of 30 kHz. The low-end varies depending on cabinet size from 40 Hz for the 50, to 32 Hz for the 500.

Gold-plated terminals and Pureflow silver-plated oxygen-free copper internal cabling offer secure cable connectivity. The crossovers utilise premium grade, bespoke polyester film and electrolytic capacitors, air-core and low-loss laminated steel-core inductors for maximum signal transfer and reduced distortion, according to Monitor Audio.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
