Nordost Announces Flagship Odin 2 Tonearm Cable +

Nordost proudly announces that its Odin 2 Tonearm Cable + perfects the vinyl experience.

Nordost's Odin 2 Tonearm Cable + joins the high-end cable maker's Supreme Reference range and is trusted with the most critical and sensitive duty in any vinyl-sourced system - especially in revealing reference systems.

We are told that, after a year-long rollout of their new tonearm cable designs and grounding solutions, Nordost is ready to release its Tonearm Cable + line with their Supreme Reference offering, the Odin 2 Tonearm Cable +.

Nordost's Odin 2 Tonearm Cable + consists of four silver-plated, solid core 99.999999% OFC conductors wrapped in a patented Dual Mono-Filament suspension. Nordost tells us that this innovative and proprietary design element dramatically increases signal speed and reduces insulation contact by 85%. The conductors are then individually shielded using Nordost's unique Total Signal Control (TSC) technology, apparently enabling 100% coverage and protection from external pollution (such as RFI and EFI) and crosstalk.

Nordost's new handmade in the USA tonearm cable runs a fully isolated bond ground throughout the cable to tackle ground noise. When needed, this bond ground connects the turntable chassis and phono-stage, creating a secure, low noise connection between the two components. Additionally, the  Odin 2 Tonearm Cable + includes two detachable, silver-plated ground whips, complete with Dual Mono-Filament technology and TSC shielding. When needed, these ground whips connect to the tonearm cable's shielding and promise to totally eliminate any noise that could be introduced during signal transfer.

Nordost states that, as with all cables in its Supreme Reference Range, the Odin 2 Tonearm Cable + is measured to precise mechanically tuned lengths, which is said to reduce internal microphony and high-frequency impedance resonances. The O2 Tonearm Cable + is then terminated with Nordost's proprietary HOLO:PLUG Straight or 90-degree low-mass 5-pin Din, RCA, or XLR connectors, which have been specifically designed to accommodate the cable's unique design.

The Nordost Odin 2 Tonearm Cable + is available at a suggested retail price of £11,560 for a 1.25-metre cable and £14,220 for a 2-metre length. Additional metre length increments after that are £3,550.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
