OPTOMA UHL55 4K UHD PROJECTOR EVEN SMARTER

The Optoma UHL55 LED projector was already an intelligent choice for your home; now it's got a lot smarter.

Thanks to a whole raft of apps to stream music, movies, TV shows and clips now available on the Optoma UHL55 LED projector, the Optoma UHL55 4K UHD is now a smarter choice.

The 4K home projector already boasted Alexa and Google Assistant voice control, but Optoma has now added much more.

New apps

The UHL55 now has access to YouTube, Netflix, Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, SoundCloud, TED, Amazon Prime, MyCanal, Hulu and many more.  Its InfoWall app can be scheduled to turn on at set times, display the weather, videos and social media feeds. Furthermore, TapCast allows wireless mirroring from a mobile device to share video and photos on your big screen.

Not everyone has space for a dedicated home cinema, but the UHL55 is small and light enough to move from room to room. The projector is also packing integrated speakers and a host of connection options such as WiFi, Bluetooth, HDMI and MHL.

Bluetooth functionality means external speakers, headphones or a keyboard and mouse can be connected cable-free. It can even play content directly from a USB memory stick via its 4K UHD media player.

Quality Imaging

Fitted with the latest LED tech, you get consistent brightness and colour performance. Also, the perceived brightness from LED can be twice that of an equivalent lamp-based projector, so no need for a totally blacked-out room. Additionally, the LED technology delivers 118% Rec.709 for accurate, true to life colour rendition - perfect for recreating the big-screen experience at home. Moreover, it also has a light source lifetime of up to 30,000 hours.

Set-up is simple with autofocus and auto keystone for fuss-free positioning and a host of connection options such as two HDMI 2.0 ports.

Naturally, the Optoma UHL55 boasts High Dynamic Range (HDR) compatibility, HDCP 2.2 support and PureMotion frame-interpolation technology to produce stand-out images.

Capable of decoding Dolby 5.1, it even supports pass-through via an S/PDIF out port for connection to an external surround sound system.

Kishan Mistry, Product Manager at Optoma, told StereoNET:

The UHL55 is a great all-rounder, combining impressive 4K UHD cinema quality images, easy set-up, instant on/off, Alexa voice control and integrated speakers in a compact chassis for the ultimate smart home experience.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
