PLANETS ALIGN FOR ELAC’S NEW VELA SPEAKER RANGE

ELAC takes its inspiration for the new Vela range from the sea and the cosmos.
The new series built to replace ELAC's 400 range of models was named in honour of the constellation Vela and the plural form of the Latin word for sail.
But however it’s spun, ELAC’s message is clear: buy a Vela speaker, and you’ll arrive at your audio destination.
ELAC's exhibition space at this year's High End show in Munich, Germany is bound to be busy.
Along with the Vela, ELAC will show the Argo active speakers, again stressing the maritime theme for its new models.
Argo, it will be recalled was the famous vessel that Greek mythological hero Jason and his crew sailed in search of the Golden Fleece.
ELAC says it’s embracing speakers with built-in amplifiers because actives blend well with modern living environments according to ELAC engineers.
Visitors to the stand will also hear the Concentro M, a smaller version of the Concentro model.
The Concentro M features every technical refinement ever invented by ELAC's designers. The Concentro M is half the weight and half the price of its bigger sibling.
New turntables will also be displayed in Munich. Called the ELAC Miracord 70 and Miracord 50, the new vinyl spinners were developed to celebrate ELAC’s past achievements in audio.
Plenty to see and hear from ELAC at this year's show. Stay tuned for more in our rolling coverage from the High End Show in Munich.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
