Price Drop For Chord’s Top Five Products

Chord Electronics has reduced the price of five of its most popular digital products by up to £1,000.
As prices continue to rise almost everywhere, Chord is bucking the trend by lowering the retail prices of a handful of its most popular products. As the cost of critical components has come down post-pandemic, the British manufacturer is passing those savings on to its customers.
The global pandemic had an adverse effect on electronic component pricing. Chord Electronics' British-made DACs uniquely deploy powerful FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) chipsets as a foundation for the company's advanced proprietary digital-to-analogue code. During 2021-22, these became four times more expensive.
However, with the situation now easing, the Kent-based founder-owned company is passing on these savings and, as such, has improved the pricing on some of its best-loved devices by as much as 20 per cent.
That said, not all digital component prices have decreased, so the Hugo 2 and the DAVE RRPs remain unchanged. Chord Electronics tells us that the build costs for the DAVE have, in fact, increased, but the company has absorbed the price rises.
Firstly, Chord's Mojo 2 and Poly summer promotion prices, which saw both shave off £100, have stuck with them priced at £395 each rather than £495.
Also from today, the Qutest drops £200 from £1,395, now priced at £1,195. The Hugo TT 2 slashes a massive £1,000 off its original £4,995 asking price to land at £3,995. Finally, the Hugo M Scaler, which was £4,195, can now be owned for a not inconsiderable £700 less at £3,495.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
