Pro-Ject T1 Evo Series Now Available

Pro-Ject's latest thrifty turntable series, T1 Evo, sits between the Primary and Debut ranges.
Pro-Ject has a new range of affordable turntables, the T1 Evo series, comprising three distinct models—the standard T1 Evo, the T1 Evo Phono, and the T1 Evo BT. Although built to a price, all aim to "deliver true high-fidelity sonics to vinyl enthusiasts on a limited budget."
As you will have undoubtedly figured out, the BT version of the T1 Evo comes packing wireless streaming smarts via Bluetooth 5.0 and aptX HD codec support for compatible speakers in addition to a pair of RCA outputs.
Meanwhile, the Phono edition includes a built-in switchable phono preamp, perfect for pairing with line-level amplifiers without needing another box.
All the new decks employ a belt-driven design utilising a bespoke drive system focused on reliability and the accuracy of its heavy glass platter, crafted to mitigate resonance. The deck also benefits from an "ultra-precise" 0.001mm main bearing with a hardened steel axle and brass bushing.
The T1 Evo series turntables come fitted with an 8.6-inch one-piece aluminium tonearm with an integrated headshell and low-friction bearings. The bundled cartridge of choice is an Ortofon OM 10 moving magnet model with an elliptical stylus.
Finally, we're told the turntables' feet have been designed to isolate the new deck from external vibrations that might affect vinyl playback. The range supports 33 1/3 and 45 RPM via a selectable electronic speed change function.
Pro-Ject's new turntable range is available in gloss black, satin white or satin walnut laminate finishes and comes with a dust cover, felt mat, power supply, and Pro-Ject's purpose-designed phono RCA cable.
The standard T1 Evo is priced at €399 / $449, the Evo Phono will cost €449 / $499, and the Evo BT will sell for €499 / $599.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
