Race-Tuned: McLaren-Liveried Klipsch The Fives

Klipsch announces a special edition of its The Fives powered speakers featuring design touches inspired by McLaren F1's iconic orange livery.

The Applause Award-winning Klipsch The Fives proved to be versatile active monitors thanks to their HDMI ARC and optical inputs for hooking up to TVs, gaming consoles, and such alongside an integrated phono pre-amp for your turntable. Rounding things off is a USB input, Bluetooth 5 and subwoofer output.

Klipsch The Fives McLaren Edition

As the official headphone and portable audio partner of McLaren F1 and following the race-themed T5 II True Wireless buds, The McLaren Edition of The Fives gets a hand-painted matte black finish with McLaren's signature papaya colour accents, including the control panel and braided cables, as well as the team speed-mark logo and a 'Klipsch | McLaren' paddock garage sign.

Also finished in matching papaya are the 25mm titanium vented tweeters with Klipsch's classic Tractrix horns. Additionally, each cabinet houses an 11cm long-throw woofer made from high-excursion carbon fibre.

Meanwhile, the racing theme continues down to each speaker's stability pad, with a rubber material said to be inspired by Formula 1's intermediate racing tyre tread.

The Fives utilise ultra-low noise, high-efficiency DSP amplifiers capable of high-resolution audio (192kHz/24-bit decoding). In addition, they are compatible with the Klipsch Connect app, giving you access to custom tone and volume settings.

The special McLaren Edition of The Fives is available now for £1,349/ €1,499 per pair. The less racy model is still available priced at £829.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
