Rega Debuts 7th-Gen Brio Amplifier with Built-In DAC

At the Bristol Hi-Fi Show 2025 over the weekend, Rega unveiled the much-anticipated Brio Mk7 that now features a built-in DAC!

StereoNET’s UK Editor, Jay Garrett, was on the scene at the Bristol Hi-Fi Show 2025 and got an early look at Rega’s latest offering.

The Brio Mk7 marks a pivotal moment in Rega’s storied legacy. Building on the foundation laid by its 6th Generation predecessor, it maintains the familiar 50-watt per channel output and the revered moving magnet phono stage while boldly stepping into the digital realm with its first-ever built-in DAC.

Until now, the Brio range had been strictly all-analogue. However, with the digital advancements introduced in the Elicit Mk5 and Elex Mk4, this new generation embraces modernity without compromising the pristine audio quality and value that have long been synonymous with Rega.

Under the hood, the Mk7 offers a versatile array of connectivity options: three RCA line inputs, a dedicated MM phono input, and one of the optical and coaxial digital inputs. The returning 3.5mm headphone jack further broadens its appeal. Although the design retains its compact, half-width form, it is slightly deeper—by about an inch—to house the new DAC section.

Rega has also fine-tuned the internal circuitry and signal paths to minimise any potential interference from the digital components, all while refreshing the visual aesthetic to align with its current amplifier range.

After a six-year interlude—a period echoing the gaps between previous Brio milestones—this release stands as one of the most eagerly awaited hi-fi sequels of 2025. With our newsroom buzzing with anticipation, we look forward to delivering more details on the Mk7 as soon as they're available.

As of March 6th, following a "very successful preview at the recent Bristol Hi-Fi show," the Brio MK7 integrated amplifier is now in full production and available to order at an SRP of £799. It positions itself neatly between the entry-level Rega io and the premium Elex Mk4.

applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
